Primer
Watching Primer again for about the 5th time. Still not sure I understand it completely. If you like time travel or movies that really make you think, I'd highly recommend Primer.

Sci Fi / Virtual Reality /Nano Stuff
Just read a sample download of "Ready Player One"...looking for a good sci-fi pub. Seeking modern sci-fi, virtual reality, but not old William Gibson crap. Let's talk sci-fi, peeps. (fyi: As a writer, I'm fascinated by the whole nano/embedded computer system stuff...it's what I'm writing about.)

noob questions
I'm fairly new here and figured out most things. Having played diplomacy before helped, but I've got a couple of questions that I don't find answers to in the FAQ's.

Rule 1: if you're it - pick someone online in one of your games and tag them.
Rule 2: if you're not it - troll the person who is it mercilessly.

Its time for a Webdiplomacy app
I think the time has come for a webdip app. Honestly, this is my favorite website, and it would make it a lot easier for many people to have this site as an app. Preferably compatible for both Apple and Android

So I finally installed adblock
I just wanted to say that I think the internet looks incredibly weird without ads. I don't like the change and I am thinking of reverting back.

Thoughts?

Portuguese skeptic, Francisco Sanches (1551-1623), from "That Nothing is Known"
Enjoy this excerpt. I transcribed it out of a philosophy textbook a few years ago. Since then it has been one of my favorites. I should note that I actually do agree, yes. I do not think true knowledge is possible.

Let's have some fun. Topics will be fun topics, debaters will write an argument, a rebuttal, and a counter-rebuttal. Three judges for each debate will post their opinion on arguments and grant a point to the winner. More inside.

Dinosaurs.
I don't know, but I felt like starting a thread about my favourite animals of the Mesozoic era, especially because they're bringing Jurassic Park back to the big screen.

(Anyone who complains or doesn't participate gets thrown in the raptor pit.)
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
07 Apr 13 UTC
The sad thing is my daughter loves the "Dinosaur Train" show. So I get to hear about all kinda dinosaur things all the time. I do have to say that the time tunnel is freaking awesome. I wish I had a time tunnel (not to the Mesozoic era though).

And I'm pretty sure you mean the velociraptor pit. :)

I have a pet dinosaur.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
07 Apr 13 UTC
This is very hard, but I think I would rank my top 5 dinosaurs as:

1) Diplodocus
2) Velociraptor
3) Talarurus
4) Pterodactylus
5) Stegosaurus
Octavious (2701 D)

What's so great about velociraptor? They were only 2 or 3 foot tall.

Brontosaurus' rule. Anyone who insists on calling them apatosaurus will be exiled to the planet Pluto.

Zultar, I respect your mod status and appreciate all you do for the site but ... DO NOT FUCK WITH PLUTO! IT'S A GODDAMN PLANET, I DON'T CARE WHAT THE FUCKING ASTRONOMERS SAY!!

Continue to say it's not a planet and ACTION WILL BE TAKEN!

All those claiming Pluto is not a planet will be stomped on by a Brontosaurus.

Pluto is a planet. It is round and has a satellite. Its orbit was altered by a past impact. Some moons in the solar system are larger than Mercury too. Fuck it, if Earth is a planet, Pluto is too.
jimgov (219 D(B))
08 Apr 13 UTC
The definition of planet set in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) states that, in the Solar System, a planet is a celestial body which:

1 - is in orbit around the Sun,
2 - has sufficient mass to assume hydrostatic equilibrium (a nearly round shape), and
3 - has "cleared the neighbourhood" around its orbit.

Suck it, Pluto lovers.

Haumea and Makemake. But since there is a Kuiper Belt, that eliminates Pluto from being a planet. It has to clear its neighborhood.
jimgov (219 D(B))
08 Apr 13 UTC
Woops. My bad. I don't think they are bigger than Pluto. But just being there disqualifies Pluto.

I have to warn you jimgov ... Failure to back down from your stance in spite of my previous threat will inevitably lead to further threats ... And trust me, you don't want further threats. They will be very threatenIng!

People who think Pluto is a planet are like Pluto - they suck at orbiting Sun, maintaining hydrostatic equilibrium and clearing the neighbourhood of their orbit. Losers stick together.

So, I was playing trivia at a bar tonight and am questions was about a children's show featuring dinosaurs. Remembering Zultar's post, I wrote "Dinosaur Train" and put all my team's points on it. As it turns out, there is more than one children's show featuring dinosaurs. My team was less than pleased. So, thanks, Zul.
