The more you complain, the more banner ads you'll get

I get them on my comp at home, but not here at work. I second this motion. Get rid of the banners!

It's more likely IP based as I haven't seen them on my droid, but saw them as "guest" on my laptop when I logged out to go sit an account.

In reality, I think its all just completely random.

Or based on completely random IPs...

Stop bitching and just download AdBlock.

Or just man up and deal with it for a day.

Seriously though, is this really a lame joke? I mean, couldn't you come up with something fun, like google did with Google Nose?

If everyone used adblock, adblock wouldn't work. Websites make money by selling space to advertisers, if not enough people click the advertisement, then either the advertiser will stop advertising, in which the website may get shut down due to lack of funds, or the advertisers will start finding ways to get around adblock.

If you really want adblock to work, I highly recommend that you don't advertise using it.

Draugnar isntead of complaining it would be more productive if you encouraged individuals on the forum to donate just like you and so many others who support the site.

Neither of the IPS I use at school show the banners, and I don't want to go somewhere else just to see them.

Its more of a general rule and not specific to the adds on this site.

They should do banner ads. How else do you expect people to make money spending their free time making a game for you to play? You internet people are funny, you think everything should be free.

I was just annoyed (not fooled) so I thought I would.point out that it wasn't an April Fool but an April Fail. :-)

I was not fooled. But I thought it was funny, not an annoyance. So for me it was a successful April Fool's related piece of humor.

It's not even 9am in Melbourne yet, and will be two hours earlier in Western Australia where Kestas lives. You might have to wait a few more hours until he gets a chance to remove them.

Hopefully he just coded the routine to check GMT date and stop doing it when midnight GMT hits.

I'd like to thank the 1 particular member who suggested I pull an April fools joke which lead to all of this, I'll leave that person anonymous though, haha.

@Draug, there are actually updates tomorrow, I'm not sure what they consist of, but I'm sure they will remove the ads, as well as fix some other issues.

Google nose was definitely a better effort ;P The upgrade later on today is mainly a hardware update, but last weekend we also released the translation code and fixed a bug in the unpause button.
