Did you even read the whole article? The authors give several plausible explanations for the phenomenon.

But in this article they say that it is global climate change which caused the ice cap expansion sooo that doesn't really help your point that climate change isn't real.

I have evidence that says global warming has *stopped* over the last 20 years...which would explain growing ice...

We used to think it was the cold air that caused the ice to form...but we can't admit the air gets cold and causes ice to form, because it contrasts with our belief...so we came up with this other bullshit *theory* that the mindless monkeys will believe...

And what are your facts that show global climate change has stopped over the last 2 decades. And btw it's not just global warming, it's global climate change. No one is calling it global warming anymore except you.

@bohonk - it was in another thread - I do not wish to rehash it here. Google it...the data is readily available that "global warming" stopped about 20 years ago and the climate models consistently fail to predict temps.

Reports will be reports. I just read over that one and fine whatever. We could each cite a hundred reports on each side of the issue. What I use to made decisions is my own two eyes and good common sense. Both of which tell me global climate change is a real thing. You can't pump trillions of tins of CO2 into the atmosphere and destroy a major portion of the Earths oceans and forests without some major ecological and atmospheric effects. The Earth's biosphere functions within a balance, and modern humans have greatly disrupted that balance. I don't know how anyone with an ounce of good judgement could deny that.

@krellin - Surprising. Yes. But I did read the whole article. And it never says that the Antartic ice cap is growing, so you are representing the facts incorrectly. What is says is

Climate change is expanding Antarctica's sea ice, according to a scientific study in the journal Nature Geoscience.

There is a big difference in the sea ice and the ice over the land where, coincidently, the vast majority of the ice is held. The article also says

The paradoxical phenomenon is thought to be caused by relatively cold plumes of fresh water derived from melting beneath the Antarctic ice shelves.

So, in a nutshell, the article is saying that the ice from the bottom of the ice shelves are melting and spreading out and forming "larger" portions of sea ice. It never says that there is more sea ice. Just that the visible shelfs are growing. It's like melting an ice cube and having some of the water refreeze at the edges of the ice cube. From above, the ice cube seems to grow, while it is losing ice beneath the surface.

At least that is how I read the article. Not more ice, just spread out more.

It *theorizes* that the ice from the bottom is melting and growing out.

You can't take "thoery" and say it's the same as fact.

It talks *nothing* about the overall mass of the ice - so we can't say for sure that either one of our positions is true.

Without proof that the thickness of the cap is thinning, then this theory is worth the paper it's written on.

I read the article - More ice...goes against our beliefs...we came up with a theory to explain it.

Our theory used to be "The air gets cold and so the ice grows..."

Now it "global warming goes through this convoluted process to spread out the ice..."

Even still...if it's global warming, why doesn't the same process apply to the other ice cap, where we say the edges are falling off because of the surface temp increase, etc...

All in all, what it indicates is that only the "consensus" one can draw about global warming is that the scientists don't know what the fuck is going on...

Later tonight, I will try to look up info about ice on land growing for you...because that is happening in places, too...

I'm not arguing global climate change. I'm just pointing out the facts of the article. Here's another one from a link just to the right of the one you were at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-21437680 which says

You know krellin, it wouldn't hurt you to say that you are wrong once in a while. I've admitted to misreading something just in the past week. Said that I was wrong. Didn't die or anything. Simple.

Who ever said it was a consensus? The IPCC. They don't get to decide that. Al gore doesn't get to decide that the science is settled.

Does anyone doubt for a minute that had cap and trade been enacted, then the same temperature data would be used as proof of its effectiveness?

Here's a bit of new information about the projections used for the IPCC "consensus" and how it got reported.

For those who don't follow links the summary is ... That extreme uptick in the graph for the last hundred years ... showing how extreme the change has been compared to the 10000 years prior ... You know the one that got all the publicity, the one that scared everyone ... Yeah, about that, ummm that was kind of a guess. Our model only has a resolution of 120 years so its statistically irellevant. Sorry bout that. Glad you still believe us though :o)
