well in plain english- if the guy has 4 games going and is cheating in only 1 of them, he is banned/his account blocked in all- therefore he is removed from the games he is playing honestly.

goes to show that ya shouldn't cheat- also why i always check players profiles for join dates and also how many times they've played with another player in my game... narrows the chances of being outdone by a multi

With the whole rules concerning not being allowed to play in public games with friends and family, is that adjudicated by an honor system or can the mods simply look up geographic origins of IP addresses and monitor peoples playing styles that way

Or rather "meta-gaming" is the appropriate question. Incidentally sorry @NigeeBaby for hijacking your thread to ask this probably pointless question. The rules don't exactly explain how someone would know if your brokering a deal based on something out of the internet realm.

Nothing says you can't play with family and friends, brainbomb. It just says you have to treat them the same as you would any other player and if you can't do that, you are obligated under the honor system not to play them. Also, it is a good idea to announce that you know another player in real life at the start of the game or, if you are setting it up, when advertising for it.

Ok out of curiosity. My husband and I both play on here and should for all intents have the same ip. Let's say we wanted to play a game together.. how would you tell the difference between our situation and a multi situation?

The mods would email you and ask about the situation. They don't just banhammer without learning the situation. They do a thorough investigation (which often bothers people who want immediate action). You've got nothing to worry about.

@Celtic - what Tom says. Also, assuming you are using different PCs, there is other routing info besides the base IP address in the request headers. Otherwise your router wouldn't know which PC to send the response to when it returned.

Ok yes we are on different PCs. We don't play together cause I'd totally hold it against him if he ever stabbed me. Just wanted to be sure in case it ever happens however.

And considering you've made it abundantly clear on the forums that you both play on web dip but not in the same game, I dont' think you have anything to worry about.

The answer I give is this: Let people know if you're in the same game together. Make the game private, make a new thread post, say I'm starting a game and playing with my husband, his ID is [whateveritis], we won't meta, but wanted everyone to be aware before we started the game. If you still want in, I'll give you the pass.

That way people are aware of the situation and won't come crying to us (and if they do, we tell them they agreed to it before they joined the game and send them to bed to cry on their wee pillow).

Profiles don't show active anonymous games. If you are banned from an anonymous game, your profile won't display that game, so the player you saw probably was multi'ing in a private game with his other multi.

The moral of the story is: don't cheat. We'll catch you and you'll lose everything you worked on.
