Game Start for followers of FSM
I am making a list of those players on this site who are also followers of FSM. If there are enough, let's try to set of a game, and then our winner can challege those Lutherans.

I have been touched by his noodly appendage. I also own a copy of the Gospel. Unfortunately I cannot start a new game for a few weeks.

I, too, have been touched by his noodly appendage. Unfortunately, with the Bulgarian open coming up, I don't think I'll have time.
Gobba (2209 D(G))
06 Jul 10 UTC
I had hoped that the wide scope of his noodly appendage would allow us to get a game started prior to the National "Talk Like a Pirate" Day on September 17th.

TLaPD is September 19th, a Saturday. You are off by two days.

Oops, a Sunday... Looked at the wrong calendar.

SOAB. You'r right. I keep track of it by my wife's birthday, September 18th. I just subtracted one instead of adding one. Clearly my mistake, Arggg.

Still not enough for a game. Has the Kansas State Board of Education been tutoring people on this site?
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Jul 10 UTC
Well, I wouldn't be playing anyhow as I'm in for the Lutheran game, but I still enjoy International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Wait a minute...I'd like to get down with FSM, but is this an organized religion, or simply a loose affiliation?
krellin (80 DX)
07 Jul 10 UTC
Oh...."Aaaaargh...."
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Jul 10 UTC
They are real fanatics, even tattooing it on their arses, krellin. They believe "the tentacled one" is the one true god, very god from very god, begotten not made. He, too, is a trilogy: spaghetti, sauce, and meatballs. some even think he has a fourth componenet, the parmesan and romano cheese blend, but others consider that sacriledge.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Jul 10 UTC
Oh... "Aye matey!"
Gobba (2209 D(G))
07 Jul 10 UTC
"Cheese blend"? I will not tolerate that type of talk on a family thread. Ye Heratic.

Oh....... Argggh right back at you.
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))
07 Jul 10 UTC
If we started this in about 2.5 weeks I would be game. I will be going on vacation for 10 days starting Monday with limited internet so I will have my hands full with my current games. But if you want to get it started in a few weeks just let me know.

RAmen.
krellin (80 DX)
07 Jul 10 UTC
Draug - I'm familiar with the great being, though I am not practicing. My question is - apart from the random fanatic with the spindly one tattoes upon his arse, is it organized? You know, geneal meetings and such? Because...if so...certain amongst the forums will condemn me should I join...and I can only take so much condemning for my attempts to be righteous in one day. sooooo.... :P
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

@krelling

Have you been touched by his noodly appendage? That's all that's required to be a true believer.

Also, if we start in 2 weeks, count me in.
Gobba (2209 D(G))
07 Jul 10 UTC
As long as one seeks the single true way, forgoing any blashemy such as Italian Sausage, the Noodly One allows each follower to worship in his own way, in the company of his like-minded friends or alone (based on the worshipers preference, or that of the worshiper's friends). Organization clearly has little or nothing to do with his Tentacled Magesty. RAmen.

Well, it looks like we do have enough for a game, just a few weeks in the future. I will post a note in the Forum when I open the game. RLumley can bite me if he doesn't approve of our government guaranteed religious free speech use of a specific thread for our annoucement. Now go forth and be cleansed in collander of the Most High Carbohydrate.

I am relatively certain His Noodliness has not endorsed a specific variant of Diplomancy (unless it includes sauce and cheese). But remember the slogan of His Marines-- The Few, The Proud, the Marinara.

And considering that, with the exception of time travel in a backwards direction, you can't prove a negative, I guess I can't prove magic doesn't exist. Of course, even backwards time travel is risky to say it doesn't exists as there may be a time travellers' conspiracy to never reveal themselves to someone from the past or it may be limited in how far into the past one can travel (ala Quantum Leap's "within your own lifetime").

It has been awhile since I've heard mention of the FSM. So I did some quick research to familiarize myself and what do I find out but the fact that religion of the Flying Spaghetti Monster was started in my own hometown, Corvallis Oregon by an Oregon State University physics grad student. One more thing to add to OSU's list along with the Fosbury Flop and the modern Maraschino Cherry.

Holy CRAP, Alderian! You're from Corvallis? My nephew and new niece, whose wedding I was at a few weekends back, live there!

Yep, born and raised, I bleed orange and black. Hope the wedding went well.
Draugnar (0 DX)
08 Jul 10 UTC
Absolutely. It was great. A blended Jewish and Vietnamese wedding. And the before and after parties had a lot of traditional Wisconsin foods like fried cheese curds and Wisnonsin brats along with the blintzes and Vietnamese spring rolls (they both graduated from UW Madison and held the wedding in Madison).

I need a sitter...
Hey, I'm gonna be gone for about a week and a half (monday through the next week's thursday) and I need someone to sit my games for me. I have four games that need sitting, all of which are classic, 24 hours, and one gunboat. I'm doing fairly decent in them and I don't wanna screw that up, so I would like to have someone who has stats like mine or better.I don't want to ask for a pause for a week and a half, so this would really help me out.

Australian Rules Football
ESPN2 just showed an Australian Rules game, and it was pretty good. I read the rules and stuff on wikipedia, but can any Australians here tell me a bit more about it? Also, although I probably will never play the game, I would like to know what position I should play, so, I'm wondering exactly how much stamina a Center needs. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being half-marathon runner.

A Very Important (Life Changing) Choice
Should I spend 10 D (oops...$10 I mean) on GTA: Chinatown Wars for my iPhone? If I get it it'll mean that thanks to the awesome new IOS4 software update I'll be able to switch between GTA and Safari so I can play GTA while waiting for phase changes in my live gunboats.
