I know we've discussed this before, but this didn't adjudicate as I thought it should.

Retreating to ENEMY sc's
This rule is extremely stupid. An enemy army retreating in disarray has no chance in hell of taking a fortified city.

Not to mention it makes me want to stab someone.

I'm not saying people are cheating, but could anyone comment on how strange Rome and Egypt are acting in this game? Miss a turn, come back, miss a turn, come back, all the while leaving themselves defenseless against Persia.

World Diplomacy Tips?
I find world diplo somewhat more difficult for me than classic. All my neighbors seem to attack me, even when we've made peace... (I have yet to see some1 stick to their peace deal with me in world diplo)
What am I not getting about world diplo?
Remagen (162 D)
08 Jun 10 UTC
Well, I've tried two different World Dip matches and it just seems so much more difficult to merely survive the first few turns than in normal Dip (for me, anyways)

Take my game as China, I made peace with a few of my neighbors but then far east Russia attacked me (renegging on our splitting up of Korea/japan) so we went to war. Then India, who I was at peace with, attacked me too and I died in like 5 turns.

The same thing basically happened to me as Ghana although I'm still alive right now, the best bet for my country is really little more than Bitch status (as foreign powers are now invading Africa).

Any tips/suggestions/strats for world diplo?

Basically just keep trying. Since there are so many players in world diplomacy it's a lot more likely that you get stabbed. What you need to do is make as many relevant alliances as possible, grab as many neutral scs as you can while respecting those alliances, and then hope for someone to start a gang or to stab one of your neighbours. Then you join in and hope that you don't get stabbed.

It's been my strategy simply to pick a target right off the bat, and dive head first against them. I let all my neighbors know clearly who that target is (except the enemy, of course) and roll the dice. I make sure my target is the easiest to win a total war against, and try and isolate them diplomatically. I then dive in head-first. My opponent will definitely know he's the target after the first turn in a world map. I've played 4 games on the world map. 1 was 4-way draw. 1 I'm clearly on my way to a 2-way draw. 1 I'm clearly on my way to winning. The last game I'll mention is my only "defeat", where my strategy worked well, until Argentina decided to be a dumbass and throw himself under the bus to try and save the dead FA.

With the world game it's impossible to adequately defend your territory relying simply on tactical placement. You can only cover so many fronts with your units. The other fronts you have to cover with good diplomacy. Arrange peace deals and DMZs such that neither party can really "stab" the other without giving like a years warning in their moves. You both move your units away from border territories. You can't stab them equally as well as they can't stab you, but it's worth it for the peaceful front.

Fleets provide much more defensive bang for their buck than do armies. It's better to prevent a player from taking a critical ocean by having a good navy than it is to try to counter a convoy to any of the many possible landing sites once he's taken the ocean territory.

More specific tips are called for specific countries as playing Oz is radically different from playing Russia, etc. Though you can't see the negotiation, it's good to look at past World games played on the site where your country has done well. Look at what they did. Is there a pattern? Does it seem like Oz and FA's success are mutually exclusive?

I would not use Amon's strategy. I think it's best to remain flexible and not overly commit to any conflict. You need to be able to pull out of one conflict at a moment's notice if another neighbour is stabbing you, to help an ally, or to address the rapid growth of another power. Keep communicating with your enemies because in the next moment they could be your allies by necessity or foresight. Make sure your neighbours always have a viable route of expansion, and if they don't, expect an attack, you can't expect them to sit there.

Though, the strategy does seem to work for Amon, and results don't lie.

Interesting... killer 135 your examples are invalid.

But yeah, I think I was a bit too 'make love, not war' on my last two, I'll try to kill someone right off the bat my next go around.
