Decision to cancel
In our game gameID=16391 I think we've decided to cancel the game. The two earlier players in question have not logged on the game in three days, and as the game is paused, they won't go cd. I don't know the situation regarding whether they were multiaccounting or not, but I think that waiting three days or so is enough. figlesquidge, if you could update me on the situation, I would greatly appreciate it.

Its inappropiate right?
To post chat logs on global chat from a game right? just because someone stabbed you in a way that was not against the rules?

Its Mr Tortoise, I guess he is new, and decided that my stabbing him warranted opening up the chat logs

I can only remember two games.
no1. We tried to convince noob179 in his first game ever to not allow another country to take a crucial sc. In return he would be a part of the forced draw. Noob179 denied and irritated me that much that I self destructed leaving my stalemate line and letting him and the other player take almost all my scs. What a game!
no.2 after along fight in the forums with xapi and others 5 players joined my game just to kick my ass. Fortunately there was a neutral player, Germany. I was playing as England. After allying with him I managed to send back France and Russia. After I was saved and with enough scs I stabbed my German ally. He then stated "I should have listened to the other players and kick your ass". Nevertheless I actually managed to finish 2nd with 12 scs in that game.
Of course all this belong to the post. I'm now a serious player and that isn't that fun anymore!

one of my favorite single moves i have made is my autumn 1903 move in this game:
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=12632#gamePanel

It put me from facing an elimination to being well on my way to a solo.

Number 2:

As France, in an F/G alliance, after we eliminated England, I convinced him that his fleets are useless, and I should support moves into them to disband them. He agreed. When I had 4 fleets, to his 2, I stabbed him, and went on to solo.

Number 1:
Even though this move backfired, it was still hilarious, and the highlight of my Diplomatic career.

We were playing a variant, Lost in Translation. Everything we said had to be run through Google translate, and posted in our country's native language. I was Russia, and for some reason, at war with Italy (Not sure why). I sent him a bunch of things that were intentionally nonsense, just to confuse him. Here it is (untranslated) if anyone wants to read it.

Me: Spring 1901: It seems the bird is flying away from home. Baby kittens do roost in Germany and France. I worry that the Turks with the use of bombs against the Arabs. What do you think? Do you think that magic hut will fly?

Italy: Spring 1901: I think that ...
that the Germans want war with the French
and that the Turks want to Greece

Me: Spring 1901: How do you think that the Turks will fly on chickens? He can send his army to one side. I just worry about the English barbers.

Italy: Spring 1901: I'm not sure. we have to wait for this turn to find out. Also, do not you realize that you were talking about Turks ", flying over the chicken?" haha must be a loose translation

Me: Spring 1901: Oxen in my bed. Many many will! Do you have a Turkish snot?

Italy: Autumn 1901: I am very sorry, but that last sentence makes no sense! Please try rewording your sentence.

Me: Autumn 1901: Oxen, Oxen! I do not know how else to say about it.

Me: Autumn 1901: Any chance you support the holding of Romania Turkey tries something funny?

Me: Autumn 1901: I am referring to Trieste. Turkey can try chicken in Serbia

Italy: Autumn 1901: haha i love the Russian to English. I am looking for something very subtle in obtaining another center from Austria. Do not worry though. I will help you achieve some centers also supply

Me: Autumn 1901: I too would like some chickens. Maybe you can attack on Turkey and to send him a will?

Italy: Autumn 1901: I'm not sure what you said, but it seems that you are on board .

I remember my favorite game. My first online game. My first diplomacy game in fact. I drew Austria (grrr) and hellalt was Turkey. I totally irritated the heck out of hellalt with my newbiness (the same game he referenced above), earned myself a forum rant post, a followup post in my defence, all for my first game... how very exciting!

But here's the kicker - my ghost rating is now better than hellalt's. How sweet it is!

@Hellalt. The only way you'll get into the top 100 is for all those multis to be banned. ;-)

@StevenC. You hit the nail on the head with the key phrase "for now". You play much better than I do..... ;-(

My favorite is in this game [http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=15453] in Autumn 1901 where Italy was telling me [Austria] that he was going to attack Germany. Of course, I didn't believe him, but I played along with his story, but moved A VIE-TRI instead of A VIE-GAL like he wanted me to. So I was able to defend two of my SCs from two of his units using only one army in VIE.
hellalt (80 D)
14 Dec 09 UTC
And Noob179, don't forger you are still my student.
Noob179 (645 D)
14 Dec 09 UTC
@Hellalt - the real measure is the ability to learn from prior mistakes, adapt, and grow. I believe I have done that since my first game. If you can learn to control your temper, you would be far more successful. Just an observation.

And let's get this straight. I am your master and you are my butt-boy.
In the game msmth82 referred to above I got greedy - was going for the 3 build Italy as per the other example above when I should have just use the supported attack on Trieste (definitely the low point for me so far - and my fortunes in that game have continued in a similar vein). I still think Austria would have been in trouble if only Russia had actually entered orders to move to Galicia as agreed rather than NMRing!
hellalt (80 D)
14 Dec 09 UTC
That's it Noob179!
You really crossed the line now...
Show some respect!
I promise I will kick your ass again next time we meet just to teach you a lesson you arrogant little boy!

ps: You are right about the temper issue. I'm trying to work on it with my therapist.

Nothing amazing or exciting at all, but I was quite pleased with the 3 build first year I got with Turkey in the game below, never seen 3 builds with him apart from that.

russia very often gets taken by surprise by that move

14 Dec 09 UTC
@dave_bishop that was a diplomatic coup getting Austria to support your fleet to Rumania. I don't think that Austria's move was wise though.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
14 Dec 09 UTC
@sendler: there is a german opening which involves convoying from prussia to denmark (and then the next spring supporting your army from denmark to sweden) it completely throws the russian player off, (unless (s)he knows the opening, but even still, the blatic fleet with an opening to prussia really poses a threat to russia)
