16 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1901: Good luck everyone!
17 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1901: Good luck all!
17 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1901: Bon Chance
17 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1901: or however u say it
18 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: Favorite nations
and why?
18 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: i prefer germany and i like to pick a fight with both england and france
18 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: England. Its easy to pirate coastal regions.
18 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: Anything but Italy! Top tier countries for me are Russia, Germany and France, second tier are England and Turkey, third tier Austria/Italy. Sorry msmth82 - I think we got a bad deal!
18 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: really i love playing italy. i fight both france and austria and ally with england germany and russia. lol
18 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: I swear the green pieces are cursed - they make you do stupid things out of pure desperation (my moves last phase being exhibit A which I would like to tender as proof for that proposition).
18 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: I think it is because green is evil, tied to money, which is evil... unless your a capitalist??? I don't know where I am going with this, far to late!
18 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1902: I seem to always end up with Germany, so it has become my favorite.
19 Nov 09 UTC Spring, 1902: Just a note to everyone - due to some server issues the phase length has been reset with the 24 hrs starting again - so there is still about 23 hours to when I am writing this.
20 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: I seems everyone in this game are ignoring the two. maybe even three most blaring threats ive ever seen, Germany, Italy, and england. and every one is, even now focusing on russia. he couldnt defend himself even if he wanted too. there is some underlying plans going on here. people that are my would-be allies are turning away and those who are my enemies are pressing in from all sides. is there no aid for France?
20 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: Well I must say, I am genuinely impressed that my 4 centre Italy is considered a blaring threat :)
20 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: (its called making a big deal out of nothing)
20 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: It's not easy being green...
20 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: yes it is!
20 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: i give. rights of all my land to germany. i quit
29 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1905: same thing again england. lets move to belgium again!
29 Nov 09 UTC Autumn, 1905: support me there please
02 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Dear all, real life is intervening and I am having to go away on business overseas for a few days and have therefore voted for a pause. I appreciate it is unlikely that everyone will agree - and so have organised someone to keep communicating/entering orders for me (and will explain the various relationships I have with each other country) in the event the game is not paused. However, I would prefer to avoid burdening that person so would still appreciate a pause if others were willing to agree.
02 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Due to some bugs in the pausing system, attempting to pause can really mess up a game.

So even if you vote to pause make sure that you DON'T finalize your orders and that you have entered your complete orders. Finalizing your orders seems to unpause the game and I've seen situations where the game continues even if the game has already been paused and people haven't finalized the orders.
02 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Voted pause. Good luck with the business.
02 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1906: Thanks to those who have agreed to the pause. If we cannot get a pause I still intend to do everything I can to log in personally and communicate/enter orders myself - as I appreciate this is a particularly important time in the game. I apologise to everyone for this and would not have joined a game if I knew that having to go on this trip was a possibility.
05 Dec 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: I have been.......defeated......:'(
05 Dec 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: Au voir
05 Dec 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: Same here... :(
05 Dec 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: at least i tricked the italian one last time
05 Dec 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: Well credit to France and Russia for toughing it out for as long as you did (and as you say I was definitely hoping you would bounce me in Paris). It is not every day you see Russia holding Denmark and France holding Munich as their only centre.
08 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1907: So how long do we need to pause this game? The last I heard, we were going to be pausing the game for "few days". How long exactly is a "few days"?
08 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1907: Not sure but we need to get on with the game. How about we resume on Friday evening if Italy has not returned.
08 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1907: Dear all, I am back from the trip and have now voted for an unpause. Thank you to England, Germany and Austria for voting for the pause. I apologise for the delay (I normally work in Australia - and it takes a long time to fly to London and back) but I am now back ready to play.
08 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1907: Also voted Unpause - hope you had a nice trip!
09 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1907: I'm not sure if everybody voted for un-pausing the game, but it appears to be running again.
13 Dec 09 UTC Autumn, 1907: Dear all, it has become absolutely clear to me that, despite reasonable requests given the state of the game, neither of England or Austria are interested in an alliance with Italy - I am therefore publicly committing to leaving the following 3 centres vacant to allow Austria to win - Venice, Rome and Naples. England - you will soon have all the proof you need that I will make good on this threat and that you have misjudged me, Austria and what you need to do to win this game. The only condition on which I am willing to give up this plan is a solid offer of alliance from England. If such an offer has not arrived within 24 hours of this message I am finalising orders on the basis of giving Austria the win. England - the game is in your hands..... Napoleon of Oz.
13 Dec 09 UTC Autumn, 1907: Dear All - my alliance remains with Austria
13 Dec 09 UTC Autumn, 1907: England you have about 8 and a half hours to change your mind. Otherwise, congratulations in advance to msmth82 on the solo win.
14 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1908: England, I have saved orders on the basis of abandoning Venice, Rome and Naples to Austria and dealing solely with England. I will finalise as soon as the 24 hours has elapsed. Time is running out if you want to turn this game around....
14 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1908: For the benefit of all who view this game in the future to see what sort of players msmth82, sweetwatersam and Napoleon of Oz are like - let this be a record that Sweetwatersam and msmth82 are of the belief that it is not a sign of a good player to threaten to throw the game by giving supply centres to the winning player unless something is done (a legitimate last ditch tactic mentioned in multiple strategy articles for use when all else fails) but it is the sign of a good player to sit and get beaten up by the two of them who have agreed to a 17 all draw and profess no interest in the win. For my part, I believe Diplomacy is a game to be won, and unbreakable alliances of the sort now arrayed against me are against the spirit of the game and defeat the purpose of playing.
14 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1908: Although - to be fair to msmth82 - as the leading player it is not in his interests to change tack at this point in time as he can choose to draw or win as he desires provided that England continues to refuse alliance with Italy.
14 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1908: Dear all, the 24 hours has now expired with no satisfactory response from England. I have therefore finalised orders on the basis of vacating each of Venice, Rome and Naples as promised. To msmth82 - congratulations for so beguilling sweetwatersam that he is blind to his only pathway to victory. To sweetwatersam - you don't deserve a draw from this and unless msmth82 is hell bent on gifting it to you and sacrificing a potential win you will not get one.
14 Dec 09 UTC Spring, 1908: Dear all, it will be evident now that I have been true to my words and Venice, Rome and Naples are vacant as promised. Sweetwatersam, your refusal to see reason has forced my hand and cost us both any chance of this game. The game is now msmth82's to do with as he chooses.
15 Dec 09 UTC Italy's offer proved to be too tempting for me, so I decided to take him up on his offer.
15 Dec 09 UTC Congratulations to msmth82 - well played! To sweetwatersam, I hope you now realise this is the game that got away, and if you are ever in this situation again you might be willing to come to the smaller third player's aid.
15 Dec 09 UTC No, it didn't get away - just got stabbed by Austria versus the planned 17-17 draw. Didn't much matter since this wasn't a winner take all game. My congratulations as well to Austria.
