That's really weird because American porn websites also use the term 'gang bang' to refer to group sex involving one woman and several men. I'm surprised it doesn't lead to confusion.

Yes, the term gang bang does indeed mean group sex. But the term gangbanger is a gang member Somehow we are smart enough to differentiate.

The difference is "gang bang" versus gangbang. Gang bang is a one woman orgy. Gangbang is gang violence particularly using guns. But they appropriated the term from gang bang with an ironic twist (kind of like fucking versus getting fucked).

There was definitely irony and double entedre involved when hip-hop appropriated the term. basically, gangbanger has some alliteration and flows better in rap than "member of a gang". There are a LOT of words now in use in American slang that came about simply because they were easier to rap. No that I understand them all - I'm a middle-aged white guy :-)

I am a little old fashioned in many ways.
I am not a big fan of swear words... I only recently found out that WTF did not mean the World Trade Federation and MILF did not mean the Malaysian Islamic Liberation Front ((imagine my shock when I looked that one up to follow up on a paper I wrote in college in the 1960's)).

I am more annoyed with the direction the words are used, for example it is one thing to say...'this situation is ..." it is another to say 'you are a..'

From strictly a mentor view point, if you put your results before other things, it is rarely an effective approach. If you put the mantra "we play to have fun and make it fun for others', then again it rarely an effective approach.
If on the other hand your approach is that "I play the game because it is better than an over dose of Prosac and my letting off steam is most important' then it may be an effective personal strategy to avoid medication. Sort of like burning down the neighborhood because your cold...worked for Nero but not a real good long term strategy.

There is no way to enforce this really and if you ban them, 1. the site would be less fun and 2. people would just use acryonms ie wtf, fubar etc.
