University Students
So I know there's a whole range of ages on this site, but since I'm myself doing this out of a dorm room, it occurred to me that a lot of the folks here might be college students, checking this site habitually between classes after (or before) facebook.

Is anybody else here a college student? And if so, where?

What might be cool is for the students to go through the steps to form a School Diplomacy club and their could be team competitions such as the Cambridge/Oxford teams at ManorCon.

Likewise if anyone wants to be a contact for local Diplomacy Face to Face let me know ...

Edi - It's always about somehow getting us to play FtF, isn't it?

boolean - Hurrah I guess? How's that going for you?

Ondskan, what do you mean by that? Do you mean you're from the US but are studying at McGill? Or is there an American McGill?
lulzworth (366 D)

The former, I'm sure. There's no McGill on this side of the lakes as far as I know.

NYU. "The City"?
My brother went to McGill. How do you guys like it there. I visisted. Looks like an awesome place. I love Montreal.
Ondskan (148 D)
13 Jan 09 UTC
I mean I'm from the US, studying at McGill University in Montreal. It's a good place to be. Montreal has pretty much everything you could want in a city, unless you don't like snow :-)
lulzworth (366 D)
13 Jan 09 UTC
Thucy, I'm from Los Angeles - it has nothing to do with location, since I love the city, but the culture of USC itself is just the most repugnant thing I have ever encountered.

Boolean - I've found maybe two, perhaps there's overlap. Who knows.
Thucydides (864 D(B))

Lol please explain because I am headed there probably... though its not too late to rethink. Repugnant how?

There's a lot of immaturity and self-righteousness revolving around the football program.

...That said, now might be a bad time to mention I'm from the University of Notre Dame. In my defense, most of the students (and certainly not the band) are not idiots about it... unlike USC.
lulzworth (366 D)
13 Jan 09 UTC
Well, it depends what you want to do with your life. USC, despite having an excellent faculty, is not at all an intellectual institution. Regardless of what you study, you're essentially majoring in networking and shoveling as much money up your ass as possible in the hopes you can take it with you when you die.

You won't learn very much, other than that, and if you're the type who is more interested in education for the sake of it than for material pursuits, you'll hate it. And honestly, if you're just looking for a prestigious trade school, Northwestern is much better.

It also has, as Kasta alluded to, a very jocky sort of good-old-boys culture that might make a person who isn't a total alpha-male huckster feel a bit alienated.

Moderator needed...
We have a game stuck on pause (game 7771) in which all contestants have voted for a draw except for one who hasn't logged in since Tue, Jan 06.
At what point can a moderator declare this game a draw?

Question on multiaccounting
Before you all start flaming against me, I am merely curious I have niether the time nor the inclination to attempt what I am inquiring about.
If some one makes multiple accounts, but never uses them in the same game, thereby not cheating, is it still wrong and ban-able?
A possible ligit use for this would be to play more games than you can on one accounts limited points.

Problem with Saturday's roll
I don't remember exactly, but I am pretty confident I finalized my moves late Friday night (GMT), or at least, made them and updated, but not finalized waiting for some late information exchange. And in two of my games (at least) these moves didn't went through.

A fleet in Gascony or Brest couldn't attack Paris could it?
Paris is inland, so that tells me no, but I'm not leaving it up to chance. Why is the option to build a fleet in Paris there if it's inland anyways?

Shouldn't the support from Rumania allow Budapest to support the move to Vienna? Thanks for replying.
