My loyalty lies with Nintendo as well, and the Wii's surprising success combined with the handheld domination gives them a strong position. But even though Sony has superior technology, Microsoft is currently at the top of my list. It appeals to a different audience than the Wii and has a much strong game library than Sony's latest effort. I'm currently hooked on Fallout 3 and NCAA Football 2009 :)

I have been a lifelong Nintendo fan, but I feel like they are shifting their focus away from the hardcore gamer, which is a bad move. Microsoft got it right with the Xbox 360, and their creation of the Arcade Xbox 360 was a good move. Sony went way over the top (in a bad way) with the PS3. The PS3 is just out of reach financially for average gamers.

I think Nintendo should have (hopefully) a very strong WHOLE year 09' line-up (other than some flops, Wii Chess?! ugh...)

I recently got an Xbox 360 Elite on overstock.com. BEST PURCHASE EVER!!! I also got Halo 3 (Heroic edition).

Has anyone heard of the Xbox 360/PS3 game "Mirror's Edge"? BEST GAME EVER!!! Download the free demo in the game marketplace. Totally worth the 15 minutes it took to download.

My brother got a 360 and its fun to play, very hardcore and all that. A wii is fun, but for your friend to own and you to play sometimes. Nintendo is doing well recruiting non-gamer and gamer lite types to the Wii but I think they should make a second console that can compete with Microsoft, and it may help give their pansy image a harder edge as time goes on. I have traditionally been loyal to Nintendo but honestly don't play much console besides Xbox anymore

Sony I believe has taken a step into intentionally phasing itself out. I agree with diplomat, it is out of reach. And thus, not very many people have it. All the games (or almost all) for the PS3 can now be found on Xbox360 now. While xbox appeals to the older gamer, and wii to the younger one, and to families, who does PS3 appeal to? Sony is slipping, and if it wants to keep its foothold, it damn better come out with an extraordinary system this next time around.

I bought PS2 for one reason. Grand Theft Auto games. I have them all. And I want PS3 for Grand Theft Auto IV.

please correct me if im wrong but i think a good 200-300usd nvidea or ati gpu and a quad chip in a pc walk all over a consoles.

well i also use my PC as a TV, stereo, typewriter, phone, networking tool, encyclopedia, dvd provider via bit torrent and to play diplomacy! so i think a good PC beats having anything.
but for casual wii type gaming with friends i can see that it looks like fun

I agree with you sean. What annoyed me about PC gaming was the upgrading needed to keep new games looking good. You can own a console and buy a brand new game for it three years after the console's debut and have it look just as fine as anyone else's, but PCs require a constant supply of money :(

Nintendo knows what they're doing a lot better than Microsoft and Sony. Both from a design standpoint and a "making games and consoles that are fun to play" standpoint. Come on, Super Smash? Mario Kart? Up against what, Halo? Sure, they may not be as "hardcore", but they're a lot more fun.

Something people should consider in this argument: There has only EVER been 1 major video game console to make money on the console itself, the Nintendo Wii. So while you might say 'Microsoft is doing this or that' or 'Sony has Blu-Ray', keep in mind that they have to sell a lot more games for each system to make up for the loss that they took on making the console. From a business standpoint, that's huge. Nintendo has also saved a fortune and a half by avoiding the issues that plagued the other two (Xbox's Red Ring of Death, etc.)

I have a gaming computer, but I try to keep my games on my Xbox. I think the only game I have for my computer is FSX.

As for handhelds, the DS has won over everyone except for hardcore gamers. The PSP is still popular amongst Xbox and Playstation fans.
