Team Game Easy Does It Style
One of the aspects of Team Tournament Play is that the end result is more the sum of individual games rather than the sum of a team effort despite some efforts at back seat
discussions on the games of the Team...However......

What about a game where each team is made up of three players.
The Team plays in 3 games. In each game the players take a three year term 1901>3 4>6 7>9
So that way each of the games are the result of the sum of the efforts of three different people in each position in each game.

So ideally you would need 21 people to play (and I do mean play without drop outs) 7 games for the Tournament.
Now I cannot run this, but it is an idea I would like to toss out to people.

This way every three years there is a complete change of players in the game.

That is a very interesting idea. In order to do in on this website, though, it would require the sharing of passwords, which is probably not feasible with 21 people. Alternatively, we could simply create 7 new accounts ONLY for such a tournament, with three people possessing the password for each account.

Just as an idea (though this is probably too complicated) - here's how I was introduced to the game of Diplomacy some 15 years ago :)

1. We had an International Relations class at university and the professor divided us into 7 teams, 7 people each.

2. One from each team was elected 'President', the others were assigned as ambassadors to the other 6 nations. Effectively, everyone got a counterpart with whom to talk.

3. At the end of each round the teams would gather and discuss. All ambassadors came with specific move suggestion based on their meetings. I cannot remember how exactly was the voting done - but the President was the key as he had more votes (maybe 3, while everyone else had 1).

Anyway, my point was that it turned out to be a great game as:
1. The level of communication was exceptional
2. There were always many alternatives and every idea was defended by someone (the respective ambassador)
3. The decision-making process (e.g. what to move in the end) was a lot of fun.

Well, some teams did not do very well and started blaming each-other - but you always get this in a team game :)

Oh, I forgot - I like the idea in general - so if you decide to do it and need players I'd be happy to join :)

Policy Change
I will stop my threads that do not have to do with Diplomacy. However, I will continue to start threads that are legitimate questions and suggestions. Also, I will post on threads when/if appropriate. Kestas, don't ban me for starting this thread; I just wanted to announce my new policy.

I had tried to set up a 10 hour per phase but only got one taker (thanks Horatio!). I'd be up for 10 or 12 (or less) if others were interested. Hit me back.

Can we have Wobble_Clock banned and unbanned so that he just goes CD. He is not putting in orders and it is wasting a lot of people's time.

Two new games - 101 and 75 points each to join
Two new PPSC games:
101 points to join game ID 7740 (The End of the World As We Know It) - 36 hour turns
and
75 points to join game ID 7741 (“I do think you have to talk to enemies&rdqu) - 24 hour turns (the name for this latter game was intended to be a General Petraeus quote, “I do think you have to talk to enemies" - Petraeus... but apparently a quote followed by a dash translates into gibberish).
