I'm not in a gloomy mood, I think it's an interesting question.

All i know is how i wouldn't like to die, which is of course, drowning or burning.

Plane crash. Like one last wild ride on a roller coaster and then *boom*....lights out.

Indeed. As far as realistic ways go, I'm more of an in my sleep in my 80s kind of guy. Preferably before I lose my health or my wits, but after I've seen that my family is on the right track.

I've already decided that I'm either going to live to 125 or die in some grand, tragic, and hopefully newsworthy accident.

No preference, as long as it's quick. Sudden, even. I don't want to linger in pain of dementia for years.

Forgot to mention this. I want to die at a time where my estate plan matches what I actually want to happen to my assets after I die. Who wants to die in a car crash on their way to the lawyer to cut someone out of the will?

Or put someone in. Like, say, your newborn baby.

What if the place where you'll die is simply "earth"?

On a more philosophical/spiritual note, death isn't really something to be afraid of or to run away from. It's a fact of life. Many would argue that without death, life might not have much meaning, so to run from it or to be afraid of it is to run from life. On a more mechanistic analysis, unless we get to a point where we can essentially stop aging but still learn and function at a high level, getting older means our cognitive abilities will decay along with our physical abilities. Even then, there is the question of population and wealth sustainability if we have basically immortals running around and gathering wealth.

Fighting for something I believe in, with full knowledge that it's happening. There could be no greater way. I don't want to be taken in the night without my awareness that it's happening, and I don't want to be robbed of my vitality by aging before it happens. Death is inevitable, but I want to die on my terms, and to own my death as much as I seek to own my life.

However it be, make it immediate and painless and I'm okay with it.

In whichever way it makes the most positive/least negative difference for the world/my friends.

I'm kind of indifferent on suffering slowly or dying quickly. They both have an appeal to me, quite frankly.

how can "suffering slowly" have an appeal to anyone?

If you die quickly, you get little 'extra' time. If you suffer slowly, you'll know you're going to be gone soon and you'll be in a unique state of mind that might somehow be beneficial to world/friends/family. If you're ever going to help, it would have to be 'now' of course.

Don't take this the wrong way but I'm pretty familiar with suffering as well, so it's no big deal to me.

Do not doubt steephie, for he knows much of the darkness. If you gaze long into a rabbit hole, the rabbit hole will gaze back into you.

@steephie: well, your last sentence kind of confirms what i was about to say: if you're used to suffering and don't bother suffering (this is a bit much, but you get the idea), i wouldn't call that suffering anymore.
