Duel of the Fogeys
I'm looking for a new game, and after my last exasperating experience playing with the general population (a full-press game where nobody talked, I got teamed up on by my neighbors but still survived to the SIX-way draw) I'm looking for some new players. I think it would be fun to try and play with some people that fall into the age group of 30+. Aside from full-press with 2- or 3-day phases, I'd be open to any other combination of settings. Any takers?

A Red Sun Rises

If youre down to the last few SCs and let a friend-nation take you over (cause basically dead) is fine by me, BUT i have seen people kill themselves right from the start because they don't like the country whom they are.

Alternative Color Schemes
So, one of the changes in the works may be a color scheme change. I'll be honest, I think our current one is ugly and people have trouble distinguishing Austra/Germany and Russia/Germany. So I've done a couple of mock ups

So I was making fun of gym-rat douchebags the other day - you know the kind: who feels that no workout is complete without taking a picture of their hideous sweaty body and posting it on facebook.

One guy, in response, feels the need to send me exactly this kind of picture (see link) with the following text included:

"So people that like to give 100% dedication in health and fitness are douche bags because of the accomplishments they made by taking pics?? Either your a sad little bitch or you a hater have a good day sir. My workouts are to hardcore for you to even read about beat this! I'm shredded and really could care less what a guy that looks sloppy has to say."

Now, I figured I could have some fun with this myself, but wouldn't it be better if I let my friends at webdip have a go at this guy too? So I posted the picture at imgur.com, and I am inviting you all to add whatever text you like to it, and then post the completed imgur link below. After everybody is done we'll move on to phase 2. I don't know man... I don't have any social media accounts because I don't care what anyone is doing today and I don't care to post what I'm doing today. But if social media is a thing, and hitting the gym is what some person is doing today, why single that out? There are literally billions of other self-absorbed boring shit updates out there. Posting gym selfies is no worse than those.

And you do know you can unfollow or unfriend anyone you don't like right? No one is forcing you to look at pictures of "gym-rat douchebags" at all. It's easily avoidable if you don't want to see that kind of thing.

@YJ: I know what you mean about body-builders. Some (the minority, I assume) are so obsessed with themselves that they assume others must be equally obsessed with them.

My wife and I went to church with a woman that works out all the time. She teaches some sort of class at a local fitness club. She's dying to become a celebrity trainer or something because she's constantly posting pics of herself--the ones with her own quotes--on facebook so that others can pass on the quotes. Pretty sad.


That said, I usually leave it alone and tend to have more of the Chairman's philosophy of the matter. I think that people like that have self-confidence issues and the only way they can feel good about themselves is to get others to feel good about them.

Just so I know who to get angry at, in what arena were you making fun of douche bags of the gym rat variety? Were you simply making a comment on your own Facebook feed, or on some other message board, or what? I feel context in this case would perhaps draw or repel people from your cause.

Because without context it looks like you were looking to provoke a fight, and then upon getting one you ask everyone to gang up on him. Which is kind of like being a bully, because lets face it, in the world of internet expertise, shredded douchebags are generally the 98 pound weaklings of the group.

I totally agree with you YJ (that both I'm a kinder man and that obnoxious body builders are irritating :).

I had a friend that worked out all the time. He was a great guy and wasn't obnoxious about his physique. I've found that the ones that are take it to an extreme.

I also noticed that you've been here for a whopping 3 years, finished 11 games (that's one game per 4 months) and we've never played any together. Not sure how that happened, but it makes me sad :(

You know, until I encountered this thread I had encountered this "ab selfie" thing exactly zero times. Never ran into it. Which pretty much tells me that Yellowjacket must have barged into someone else's wheelhouse with this, and mocked someone's pastime. @jenga usually I have pretty good instincts for what webdippers will think is funny - I guess not this time. I thought it would be a funny story - it wasn't actually supposed to be a call to arms or anything. I already told the guy to stop sending me pictures or trying to talk to me, the "edits" I requested were just for if he persisted.

Anyways, to answer your question. I was having a laugh with a bodybuilder friend of mine on his wall about people who post constant workout pics - and this other random guy read it, like a month later and took enough offense to send me a message letting me know what a little bitch I am. That's really it - I wasn't "out asking for it" as tendmote seems to be implying.

What was the username of the guy who used to be an israeli soldier again?
He had a nice story that more or less started with how he used to be in the army and didn't like the destruction so made sure he got fired. The forum community sort of convinced him that he got some things wrong.
I'd like to ask him something. I suppose the odds are small but I can at least post this thread.
