The past few weeks have been a trying and volatile time for WebDip and its members and staff. We've had silencing, banning, exiles, and dissent. We've had new rules, new mods, new fights, and more.
I think when it all comes down to it, this all started as a simple issue - more moderation, or not? In the end the more moderation side, backed by the majority (if not all) of the staff, and 75%+ of members won out. Several of us on the other side (and even some on the former side) have felt unable to have any influence over where things have gone.
Some, like SYnapse and Maniac and myself, felt that leaving, or at least vastly scaling back involvement, was the right thing to do. Others were a bit more extreme.
I can't speak for anyone else, but for myself, my biggest concern are:
1. Limiting of open discussion on the forum
2. Staff members being hostile to dissenting opinions
#1 I think will sort itself out. The new rules were different, but I think cooler heads will prevail and the good discussion we're used to will stay, but in a less hostile way, which is probably a good thing.
#2 is a bit different. I just want the mods/admins/owners to listen. If I've been agitated, it's because I care. If I've been bitter, it's because I disagreed with the new rules. If I've been unruly, it's because I don't want to be ruled.
I have (and will) respect the rules of the site. In return I ask that the staff and other members just take a deep breath, and move forward, and put all this nasty business behind us.
Some apologies:
To zultar; Sorry for being an ass. I get you're under a lot of pressure and I was a big part of that.
To jmo: Sorry for being argumentative. You know I have big respect for what you guys do.
To other mods: Sorry for bugging you so much about it.
