EOG (Turkey)
I started out this game open to an alliance from either Austria or Turkey. The jugg, being famed as it was, was my first option. Things went well the first phase, but then Austria offered me a deal that was too good to be true. *Note to self: If something is to good to be true, it probably isnt true*. He had me fooled, and so I ended up going after Russia, leaving Austria to make all the gains. This actually may have helped my game out, because it cause Russia and I to ally, giving us the strength we needed to push out Austria. Russia took the lead and was able to persuade me that we were the final two and that without me he would be nothing. After looking back at the game, and reading over Bay's EOG, I realize that although I did help support Russia in and I helped in a pivotal time, Russia was in control in the whole time and I should have realized I was being played. With Italy's fleets crowding me and taking Greece, I didnt really have any options except to work with Russia though.
So I was down to three SC's, blindly following Russia. We were finally able to trim Austria down, and the whole time Russia was promising me Serbia. The entire time. So I got kinda hung up on it, and kept asking for it. Russia told me that plans had changed and that I should instead convoy over to Italy (at this point I thought it would end in a 3 way ERT). Italy was screaming in my ear that Russia was going to stab, and I thought for sure he wouldnt, but just in case I wanted some of Russia's SC's in order to gain security. Unfortunately it came across to Russia as mooching and being paranoid (maybe it was a little bit) and he stabbed.
At this point I knew that I would not be able to withstand Russia. No way. So I decided to exact revenge by stopping his solo (turns out he didnt want the solo). It was easy enough to get Italy to follow me, as he had been screaming Russian solo all game long. England followed me for the most part (although there were many times when he switched up the moves from what I told him) and Germany was the wildcard, but he stayed put until the end. It was a lot of work to get all the orders figured out and trying to work out all the scenarios, but in the end we didnt really need it. Turns out Russia didnt want the solo, he just wanted to screw me over and get a three way draw (note to Bay: Always go for the solo!!). After years of me working to put up a stalemate line, England and Italy finally put me out of my misery.
All in all an enjoyable game. Since this game was supposed to be for Bay, here is my comments on your game.
Positives:
Able to grow alliances with everyone
Able to deceive by telling someone they are more important than they really are
Able to stab allies without remorse
Cons:
Didnt go for the solo wholeheartedly
Stabbed a little too soon (you could have had the game if you waited a bit)
Talked a lot of trash at the end - I understand that you showed all of us up in that game, and if you want to talk trash that is fine, but do you really have to swear at me and tell me to die after I am down to one unit and tell me I deserve to die. I really thought you were such a nice person when you were my ally, and then as soon as you stabbed me, you became very mean. If that is how you roll, then fine, but it makes the game more enjoyable if you are nice to everyone, not just your allies. And I have had multiple games where it seemed like someone was going to die, but because they were nice and gentlemanly, they became part of a draw, even with 1 SC. So it is actually a good strategy to be nice to everyone while you play.
Good luck in your next game! Unfortunately I will be busy in a couple weeks, so I cant join any games right now.
