Usually if you play a game with people you know in real life, it's a good idea to let others know that are playing.

I can't honestly see the harm in talking about the game outside of the game itself, although people ask that unfair collusion is avoided (i.e. allying with someone because you know them to form an in breakable bond, etc.)

This is just my unofficial opinion (as in, don't blame me if you get banned . . . ), but there's two ways to make this work: either they tell each other what games they're in and never play together, or they only play anonymous games and never talk about ongoing games with each other. Given that the IPs are the same, they should probably let the mods know as well.

Preferable to that is to have them a) list players they know in real life on their profile, and b) only play together in private games, and even so, let the players in the game know before the game begins. Joining anonymous games with players you know can happen, but as long as there's no collusion outside the game and as long as their identities aren't revealed to each other and they don't know they're playing together, that's okay.

And if they join a gunboat game together, they're forbidden from communicating with each other in any way for the entire duration of the game. We will be watching.

@peterwiggin we may be friends but we would always try to kill each other in other games like in halo of course we get along but me and him have a very bad rivalry. When it comes to rts or diplomacy style games in civ 5 we literally had a 2 year war to try to dominate one another. Plus I im asking about if it is ok if his brothers play the game because they had the same IP I don't want them to be banned because of that. And they won't do a 3 way alliance because they're brothers they actually very competitive toward one another

Two brothers can play a game together and be on the site together. But the fact that they're willing to war with each other is beside the point. They should not be going into the game with an attitude of "I'm going to kill my brother this time" because that inherently distorts the game, and is metagaming. Reasons for in game actions should be strictly game related.

Well I didn't mean that its just they like to be against each other all three of them. When ever me and my friend play a games its just us trolling with one another but we don't do it to hurt each other.

Gold's point is that bringing a relationship from outside the game into the game is metagaming, and against the site rules. It doesn't matter whether you're more likely to help each other or more likely to kill each other. Both are metagaming.
