2 where did this 19 century come into play of course im making it fair and having them in the same timeline and knights never adapted at all the armies of Europe dismissed the use of knights after technology advance in warfare. When the contact with the west their feudalism system was coming to the end of its rope while japan trade with their neighbors and the westerners they took rockets from china and made canons and they made their own muskets from a European design. While samurais were using these tools of war in battles. Knightly chivalry was being dissolved in Europe and led to the destruction of the knights of the feudalism system just cause a royal blood proclaims you a knight it doesn't mean you do what a knight does if the samurai were still around you would literally devote your whole life to your shogun/warlord and the emperor

Okay, late 1500-mid 1600s. I'm pretty sure that doesn't change anything about my point, except that I should've said 16th or 17th century.
Yes, I read through everything. Most of your 'answers' don't qualify as answers to me though, since they don't answer the questions asked.
THELEGION (0 DX)
26 Jul 14 UTC
But of course samurais are gone now a days but saying that this title means you are a holy crusader. Its just a insult to those who devoted their lives in order to become a knight the queen could literally knight her dogs vet because he save their life and you really think that's what a knight is no no no. A knight is a warrior not a movie star or a scientist hell politics even.but what honor is in that from all the shit I've seen in politics they should be the least likely to be knighted and yet their are multiple accounts of them.

So then enlighten me then
THELEGION (0 DX)

The musket was made the use of knights came to pretty much a end when their lords started mass producing them the knights slowly faded out of military personnel and more of a fairy tale for child samurais were introduced to this and stayed for a good long while until the tokugawa shogunate was dissolved they used samurais basically as either person body guards or just firgure heads many old samurai generals became modern warfare at the time generals the samurai slowly dissolved because of the this sudden influx of foreign powers. But the fact is that knight did not use muskets samurais did during the 1500 samurais could be more then horse men they could have any kind of job it just has to follow bushido code knight were mainly horsemen and some were foot soldiers but like captains and LT samurai had a more variety of fighting somebody then knight so because during the same a samurai would win against a knight because he had more option then a knight did and he could used a musket and canon

Musket's weren't the be-all and end-all. They aren't that great at penetration e.g. they punch through unlike the modern bullet that pierces and then expands. And neither musket nor a normally size handgun has the penetrating power of an English longbow. One study I saw showed that the average bullet only has a sixth of the power of an arrow from a longbow. Sorry, no references available anymore. Pre-internet study.

Interestingly, both European knights and Samuria experimented with two layers of metal in their armour to counteract firearms (which works up to a point).

Certainly muskets started to kill off the knight and Samurai class but was more modern weapons that did it.
Theodosius (232 D(S))

I agree that the Samurai were more flexible, but I think that the telling point is what
Crazy Anglican said, terrain.

Also, muskets could mow down horses, but not knights in armour with shields.

There's probably a board game of this somewhere...

That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Bastard Sword" bullshit that's going on in the d20 system right now. Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.
I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 2,400,000 Yen (that's about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana.

Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.

Katanas are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.

Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:

(One-Handed Exotic Weapon)
1 D12 Damage
19-20 x4 Crit
+2 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

(Two-Handed Exotic Weapon)
2 D10 Damage
17-20 x4 Crit
+5 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

Now that seems a lot more representative of the cutting power of Katanas in real life, don't you think?

tl;dr = Katanas need to do more damage in d20, see my new stat block.

I think mythbusters made a episode that had to do with a musket vs knight armor

Grking I luv you. X) katana blacksmith perfect the art of sword crafting because that's what the samurais always did if they weren't at war they trained their talents to perfection and devoting their time to bushido and their lords. The katanas were folded 100 times in order to make the steel more powerful they slightly curved the blade to make it light as a feather but also giving it grace when the samurai pulled it out of his sheet.

Here's a fact about samurais. It was dishonorable to cut your opponent s head in battle. So if a samurais wanted to finish his opponent by trying to slid his neck he would have to cut it to a certain point thing of it like a open lid of a shampoo bottle.
grking (100 D)
27 Jul 14 UTC
That was actually copypasta...
I personally believe an army of knights would win for a few reasons (although each battle would work on a case-by-case basis)
The Europeans had better metals to work with, as Japan's ore supply is not of high quality, and as a result, Japanese smiths had to fold blades in order to make them good weapons.
It is a fact that plate armor can hold up to a blow from a katana *far* better than Japanese armor can hold up to a strike from a European sword.
Still, it all depends on the terrain, the numbers, the weather, etc.

Thx they know alot of information too. I have a friend who specializes on Japanese history I'm more of a Chinese history kind of guy heres a fact about the three kingdom period of china there was really one general never ever defeated in battle his name was Zhao Yun one of the 5 tiger generals of the shu kingdom. 1 thing that he is most famous for was the rescue of his lord (liu bei of shu) son liu chan or liu shan depends how you say it. He alone charge into a army of over 100,000 troops and rescued the young infant lord from the the opposing army of wei. They said his kill count was about over a thousand wei elite soldiers died by his hands in that 1 battle alone.

Seeing krellin's lawn on google street view made me wonder, is there a correlation between use of dandelion herbicidal chemicals and political rightwingedness?

Furthermore, if there is such a correlation, could the cause of said phenomenon be resultant from the corrosive effect of stated chemicals on human neural systems?
