In the Year 2525...If Man is Still Alive...If Woman Can Survive...They Will Find...?
Well, what'll they find?

What states or institutions will have risen or fallen? What people will have risen, fallen, maybe even (sadly) disappeared as the result of war or disease? What artists and writers and even shows and films that we care about now will still be praised...and what will make for remarkably-good landfill?

Trick or Treat cancelled. WTF?
Many towns and cities around where I live are "cancelling" trick or treat and moving it to Fri., Sat., or Sun. Question is: Since when is it the cities job/responsibility to tell the citizens if they are "allowed" to go T or T'ing. I should add, yeh, there is some rain and wind (oh,no save me) but it is *nowhere* near a storm. Doesn't change the fact that a town/city (thinks it) has that much *authority* THAT'S BUUUUUULLLLSHIT!!!

e-Cigs / Nicotine Delivery System

OK, so just stuff I already knew and wrote off long ago as being an apples to oranges comparison. Chain smokers consume packs of cigarettes a day. I have 2 or 3 cigars a week. So when you compare 350-400 cigarettes a week versus 3 cigars, that significantly alters the numbers. But yes, fermentation (and I had already mentioned that) increases the levels of the toxins in the cigar. But the other thing that needs to be looked at is *how* they are smoked. Most cigar aficionados put on cigars. They don't take long deep drags pulling the smoke into their lings. So the mouth and vums take a hit, but not so their lungs. As far as second hand smoke, you'll find most cigar smokers rarely smoke one around non cigar smokers and most places that allow cigarettes still ban cigars.

Krellin, the positives from nicotine are short term. The damage to the heart is long term and that has nothing to do with how it is consumed.

Now, if you are going to consume it, e-cigs are probably the way to go. But you could also shift to the patch or dip. Personally, I enjoy the cigar or pipe I have on occasion but don't consume it like the cigarette addict does.
krellin (80 DX)

What do cigars vs. cigarettes have to do with the e-cig nicotine delivery system?
krellin (80 DX)
31 Oct 13 UTC
The Patch - why? I'd rather puff on the e-cig - it's a physical thing, and you don't have to where a patch. I do it while I drive home, and that's it. Patch wouldn't give me that.

Dip? Hell no....I'd rather my jaw not rot off due to cancer....that's back to the tobacco, and I'm not looking for tobacco toxins.

In other words, while you enjoy the occasional cigar, the drive-home-e-cig is about the equivalent -- it's not an all-day nic fit, it's just pass the time while driving, feel slightly relaxed while I chill to the radio time. For me, as I said before, I never really had an addiction problem with cigarettes/nicotine, but I do enjoy the body/head sensation/relaxation associated with it.

"and the negatives are always tobacco related…."

This statement is what I take umbrage with. If you are already a smoker, then ecigs are great. But stop stating the negatives of nicotine are all tobacco related. You can OD on nicotine (try that on caffeine - not likely) and nicotine does cause long term damage to your blood vessels and heart regardless of the delivery system. So atop talking about getting non smokers hooked and strictly tall about their virtue as a replacement to cigarettes for those already hooked.

And until they taste like a Fuente Hemingway Signature or I can get flavors to blend into a pipe bowl, I will pass.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

I'm not a smoker other then doing the occasional hookah. Love the e-cig cause you can get flavors and they don't smell.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Oct 13 UTC
But a big pleasure from a pipe or cigar is the smell. And how do you make smoke rings and how would Gandalf send a tall ship through Bilbo's smoke ring with am ecig?
Putin33 (111 D)
31 Oct 13 UTC
Studies have shown that nicotine interferes with dozens of cellular interactions in the body. It also causes fatty plaque build-up which leads to cardiovascular disease.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
31 Oct 13 UTC
@Draug some of the flavored e-cigs have a scent to them. They're like hookah in that way. I also don't smoke enough to be able to do a smoke ring and I don't smoke a pipe at any rate.
krellin (80 DX)

@Putin -- sigh....source? First of all, "Interferes with" does not necessarily equal "bad". We take all sorts of medications that interfere with things to the benefit of health.

@Draug - an e-cig allows you to exhale a vapor -- blow away with yer smoke rings, eh.
@Draug - Try that with caffeine? lol You're kidding, right? People have killed themselves OD;ing on caffeiene. Not saying it's typical, but it's certainly possible. http://www.energyfiend.com/a-real-life-death-by-caffeine http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57539278/can-you-overdose-on-caffeinated-drinks/ Caffeine is NOT an innocuous drug.

Anyway, if you really think I'm trying to get non-smokers hooked on nicotine, than your crazier than I thought you were! lol But for all the shit that people put in their bodies - including cigar smoke - I'm not here to play ingestion police and tell you what you can and can't put in your body. Fuck....the majority of the shit people buy and consume is far from ideal, and there are far better things for people to consume than what they do consume 95% of the time. So...yeah....I'm really not that worried about the soon-to-be-overly-villified e-cig in our society.

You can get a pot vaporizer. Same principle. If you've got the med pot law, like az its legal and less harmful to your lungs than lighting something on fire and inhaling the smoke.
Draugnar (0 DX)

I always figured, if I was going to try cannabis once it is legal, I would go for the brownies.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

Phil It's only legal in those states if you have a prescription. I wonder though if the straight THC would be ok for me. Pot gives me a bad allergic reaction.
philcore (317 D(S))

@draug, the "edible" have come a long way. There are way more than just brownish these days.

@CF: you don't really need an rx, in the sense that each time you need more you have to get a Dr to write you one. You just need a "med card" which is basically a Dr saying that you're entitled to buy as much as is legal at one time and buy it as often as you want. Way different than say a codiene rx. Or even penicillin, for that matter.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Colorado and Washington have legal recreational pot.

Well they still have brownies if that's your preference. But now you can get cookies, losenges, lollipops, caramels, butter, all sorts of drinks, and so on.

Maybe a recipe for a chocolate milkshake... Yeah, sugar free chocolate icecream and milk laced with the stuff. Talk about a mudslide...

Either way, until Ohio catches up with the times, I won't even consider it. I've never drunk illegally(underage) or done an illicit drug and I'm not starting to break those laws in my late 40s.
philcore (317 D(S))
01 Nov 13 UTC
Az is pretty damn conservative. I was really surprised when it passed here last year. We have a proposition system though, so the people got to get it on the ballet, and then vote for it. I'm not sure if Ohio has that or not, but if we had to wait for the state legislature, it never would have happened.

And BTW, I haven't smoked pot since its been legal here, funny that. I've just never been a fan, maybe once every couple years. But not since it's been legal. I guess I just prefer my beer and wine and an occasional tequila or scotch. I think if I do try it again though, I would try an edible of some sort. It's supposed to be a different kind of high from my med-card friends tell me.

I was alone in my basement with the lights dimmed when the power went out. The room went pitch black. I was watching Halloween 4 - the TV didn't shut off for about 10 seconds even after the power went out.

I just did the first school test that made me laugh out loud.
So I had to turn -254 into an 8-digit binary number. It took me about 10 minutes to figure it out and now I can't stop smiling :)

How fast would you guys figure it out? And what IS the answer? I just want to hear someone else saying it to be sure, before I can start learning French :)

1) Goldeneye, for the incredibly strong come-back element and its way of weaving recent history into the plot + special effects that are not over the top
2) Living Daylights, I think Timothy Dalton never quite got the credit he deserved

One of you created a fake blankflag account today. Your schoolgroup is already notorious for making multi's and cheating.

With that in mind, the person who made this account has 48 hours to come forward, or we're just banning the entire districts ip's. You will all be able to play from home, but not during class.
