In the Year 2525...If Man is Still Alive...If Woman Can Survive...They Will Find...?
Well, what'll they find?

What states or institutions will have risen or fallen? What people will have risen, fallen, maybe even (sadly) disappeared as the result of war or disease? What artists and writers and even shows and films that we care about now will still be praised...and what will make for remarkably-good landfill?

Trick or Treat cancelled. WTF?
Many towns and cities around where I live are "cancelling" trick or treat and moving it to Fri., Sat., or Sun. Question is: Since when is it the cities job/responsibility to tell the citizens if they are "allowed" to go T or T'ing. I should add, yeh, there is some rain and wind (oh,no save me) but it is *nowhere* near a storm. Doesn't change the fact that a town/city (thinks it) has that much *authority* THAT'S BUUUUUULLLLSHIT!!!

I haven't heard of this happening, but it does indeed sound like bullshit.

It's for the safety and security of the children. Doesn't make sense to have trick or treat in the middle of a bad storm when nobody is going to be able to enjoy it. They moved trick or treat earlier tonight and so far we've gotten maybe 10 kids due to the weather.

Go bitch and moan about something important.

NOT a "bad storm" or can't you read. Halloween is not a right. Measure risk vs. reward and think for your self and/or your family.

My god shut up. Halloween is something a town needs to coordinate, like fireworks on fourth of july. You can go out in costume any day you want but don't expect candy unless it's on a coordinated date and time.

Why would you leave it to the parents? The kids would just whine until their parents let them go out into a severe storm. It makes sense.
Putin33 (111 D)
31 Oct 13 UTC
It's really dangerous to go knocking on strange people's doors and panhandling for candy when the people in the neighborhood aren't anticipating it.

When I was a kid, we had to trick-or-treat in the snow ten miles uphill. Move the day because there's a little rain? Absurd! We're raising a whole generation of weaklings who will never be able to cope with the grown-up world. I can just see some Gen Z-er calling their boss in 15 years to say they can't come to work today because there's a little rain if this is how they see this "problem" and others like it dealt with all through their childhood.

A town has every right to determine when roads may be clogged by little kids. They are public roads, not your private property, these kids walk up and down.

Oh give me a break. The entire state of Alabama would shut down overnight if they got an inch of snow. The states with the most so-called "rugged individualists" are usually the biggest crybabies when it comes to weather.

There was a severe weather warning throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. Don't let the OP fool you into thinking it was just a matter of a little rain.

Exactly you fucking dumbass! And Halloween is coordinated on OCTOBER 31....Some fucktard bureaucrat can't decide at Noon on October 31 that Halloween is off and everybody can just suck it up and do it a different day. That isn't coodination...that fucking AUTHORITARIANISM.

Seriously, exactly how low is your IQ?

Well I know they've put trick or treating hours for the town I live in. But, we still had trick or treating tonight even though it's been raining all day.
Putin33 (111 D)
01 Nov 13 UTC
We almost never have trick or treat on Halloween night. You suburbanites who live around no people may not be aware, but crime is high on halloween night, and therefore to avoid problems for children, they usually host it on another day, typically during the week to avoid the weekend.

@Putin...."suburbanites who live around no people" You are an idiot. I had probAbly 400 kids some to my house tonight, fucktard....IN THE RAIN.

And how the fuck is chaging the night going to reduce crime that your are linking to trick-or treating.

Nothing that comes out of your brain *ever* makes any sense, or is tied to any form of logic known to this universe.

You are, without a doubt, the stupidest person on weddip.
Putin33 (111 D)

It's not tied to trick or treating, it's tied to halloween weekend. They want to separate the one from the other. Not a difficult concept nor is it "authoritarianism", stop whining.

Wow, you're pretty livid over something so minor. If you get that angry over waiting one day to stuff your face with candy, you have major issues. The government is trying to make this holiday a day where kids can enjoy getting candy without having to fight wind and rain. I think it's a perfectly valid concern for the government and they're just trying to help.

Parents are free to chance it, but you're overreacting.

Its called looking out for the best interests of the community. There's a tornado watch around me tonight. If you think this is a spiteful, authoritarian bureaucrat, you're more than welcome to come down to TN and go trick or treating with your kids, krellin. Its windy as shit tonight.

Didn't have a single trick-or-treator tonight. Not one. I ate all the rice krispy treats. My wife just asked me where they were.
dipplayer2004 (1110 D)

The crazy thing is that there were kids trick-or-treating last night, in the 40 mph wind gusts and Tornado Watch weather. I doubt they had much luck, as very few people had their lights on and were giving candy out (but there were a few who were--likely people who had plans for Friday night).

I think it is appropriate for a local government to try and coordinate such a thing. I don't think they are "forbidding" anyone from going out--nobody is threatened with a fine or arrest for doing so. So what's the big deal? If you insist on braving the elements, and think that October 31st is sacrosanct, come Hell or high water, then you can ignore the local government.

One other point: in many of the neighborhoods around me, it had nothing to do with the city or county government. It was the local HOA that made the call on which night people would trick-or-treat. That's not "government abusing its authority." That's private citizens getting together and making decisions and coordinating their plans. That's a very good thing.
dipplayer2004 (1110 D)

There was actually a child who died because of a downed electrical wire, knocked down by the high winds.

http://www.tennessean.com/article/20131101/NEWS01/311010133/UPDATE-Cops-ID-child-who-died-after-being-electrocuted

But, dammit, trick-or-treating MUST happen on October 31st!

I cannot escape the sentiment that any of the fellows posting here to decry this particular policy, are the exact same folks who would sue both the city and pertinent property owners if anything bad happens to them whilst merry-making.

I'm suspicious that these guys are also likely to head out in the evening without checking their route against a map, wearing adequate clothing against the cold and probably neglecting a portable light-source.

HELP ME
I was alone in my basement with the lights dimmed when the power went out. The room went pitch black. I was watching Halloween 4 - the TV didn't shut off for about 10 seconds even after the power went out.

I just did the first school test that made me laugh out loud.
So I had to turn -254 into an 8-digit binary number. It took me about 10 minutes to figure it out and now I can't stop smiling :)

How fast would you guys figure it out? And what IS the answer? I just want to hear someone else saying it to be sure, before I can start learning French :)
