Agreed. Of course, I'm also a huge procrastinator. Maybe the two are related.

Define "things". There are "thigns" every day - a tremendous number of thigns - it's just that most of them are so a part of your routine that your brain kind of ignores them.

Just like your brain becomes adapted to a constant noise, so too does it become adapted to daily life.

Think of the number of tasks, for example, associated with the "simple" activity of getting ready in the morning...but in the brain, we lump this long task-list in to a single activity....but if you have ever had a toddler, this long task list can be quite an ordeal!

Fair enough.
I was thinking more along the line of non-routine events (so not due to one's own procrastination).
For example: people getting married and getting a new house tend to go together, or having a baby and a new house, then there are long periods of "the usual" before chunks of big events happen around the same time.

I'm not fond of delving into my personal life, but here's an example of what I'm thinking of:
Over the next two weeks, I have a big midterm and a lengthy scholarly paper due. I am also in the process of closing my house this week, and my wife is 10 weeks pregnant (second child).

Really? I always thought of life more like a concentrated maelstrom of entropy against which it is futile to rail, though our feeble attempts to do so result in much entertainment.

I've always thought of life as a massive jar of lemons. You grow up thinking they are infinite and instead of simply making lemonade you do things like spray the juice in people's eyes and rub it all over their cuts. And then one day when you want lemonade you realize your massive jar of lemons is empty.

At which point you retire and the government gives you more lemons to play with.

I think it is generally totally subjective but for myself i agree. The last year was simply crazy. So much stuff to do, so many thinks coming up i never expected and all within a year.
