Synapse well if you want a concern you have to be ignored that would be the best way to do it.

Seriously, this is when a good old beat down in the hallway would be well called for.

Instead, they'll probably have a group hug and talk it out, further empowering the bully by showering him with attention.

Ban the offender (Grkng), lock down any further new accounts from that IP. Instead you threaten an entire class because of what is essentially, in this case, a cyber bully. If one dick decides he doesn't care to play any more, his final act of fuck you is to multi and get everyone banned. Ridiculous.

Reread that, krellin. Its a collective final warning. Nobody has been banned.

2WL -- I know nobody has been banned....They *have* an offender identified who has commited a bannable offense. He is not banned, he is "silenced"...which does nothing to prevent his further bad behavior. And...IF he commits another bannable offense, the entire group gets punished. wtf?

1. The Students need to beat up grking, and give him some real world consequences. Old school justice *worked*.
2. Grking needs to be banned
3. All new accounts from that IP need to be banned/reviewed - so as to not punish existing players who are following the rules

If it was just one person we wouldn't bother with this, we'd just ban that one. At least 1/4, possibly as many as 1/2 of the over 100 students from this school have attempted to meta or multi at some point. This was just the final straw for the collective group.

100 accounts registered from the same IP address... what could go wrong?

Agreed that we shouldnt have good users suffer under bad ones. In fact, blocking the school IP might be a very sensible approach then, since the good users are clearly seperated from their bad classmates. In a sense it will protect the good users.

And remember, nobody except offenders will be banned at all. Just the use of the school IP will be blocked. Legit players will *always* be able to access fine from home wifi and mobile net.

So why wait....you can't seriously think that it isn't going to happen again? Save yourself the headache...ban the school IP - this isn't banning the kids, who will then play from wireless devices and at home - why go through the charade of pretending this last *very serious* warning is going to make a difference?

The words on the rules page are "last resort," krellin. They are actually following that guideline. Unfortunately that tactic hasn't been consistently used recently so that's getting lost on us...

Ummmm...it seems not, as they say that 1/4 to 1/2 are suspected to have violated the rules. So...seems pretty last resort already. As there is no hard and fat rule, and the situation is all but uncontrollable except for banning the IP, and you are pretty much assured (given past behavior) that the ban is coming...they have already reached the last resort.

Case in point...they "Paged" the school yesterday to address the problem...and this moring had to ban another account. Clearly this is a belligerent group incapable of collectively following the rules - so ban the ip and be done with it, and the last resort point is here (and past)

@Minister -- I took both sides AFTER further evidence was revealed, duhhh. At first it was "Grking fessed up so we silenced him".....and I quetioned why threaten the group. Then is was, "Oh...well we know 1/4 to 1/2 of them are offenders" to which we clearly have an uncontrollable situation deserving of a ban of the ip.

And WHY they need to ban the IP is becuase:
1. Uncontrollable situation
2. Flagrant in-your-face abuse (even this morning after yesterday "Paging")
3. Mod resources are being distracted by a situation that is acknowledged *by the mods* to be uncontrollable
4. It benefits the entire community to have the mods close down the loop hole so they can focus on other issues.

Also it's not like we'd be banning them. People could still log on from home. Just wouldn't be able to do it from school.
