The Masters is back!
Looking for anyone who is interested to sign up and finish out this season

After TrustMe stepped down as TD, the tournament has languished, and many of its 49 participants are not currently active on the site, so we need subs!

J. Edgar
I saw J. Edgar yesterday and thought it was fairly fantastic. At the very least, I thought DiCaprio would be a shoe in Oscar nominee (or even winner). Reviews, on the other hand, were less positive. Anyone else seen it?

poetic public press
a couple of years ago, when public press games must be played on the forum, a few guys did a poetic version of public press (some of you old enough might recall). if anyone is interested, i would love to start a game like that.

How do players come up with the games that they create. I for one enjoy using music references. For example, I am in 2 games that I have created. The first is BYOB (song by system of a down). The second is This Time We'll Blast It All to Hell (line from green days' f.o.d.)

Seeing as we have a thursday night game, I figured it's time to get this out, and give Goldfinger another break from having to do this.

Here's to a pick 'em week like last week (for me that is..)

Students: Be nice to your TAs
So, I stayed up all night grading exams and now I feel bad for some of the shit I gave my TAs when I was an undergrad. You think taking an exam is bad? Try taking the same exam 40 times without being able to make a mistake.

Sigh! You still do not realise! Putin is a troll. Don't feed the trolls.
Putin33 (111 D)
14 Nov 11 UTC
Pretty hard to claim I'm the troll here when this thread and the comments therein was made deliberately to antagonize me.
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Nov 11 UTC
Uh huh... And I suppose a comic making fun of something he witnessed is saying his shtick just to antagonize the person involved. No, this was meant in jest and you were as predictable as ever.
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Nov 11 UTC
And the thread topic had Jack shit to do with you, Puttard. It was an apology because the game went tits up when the new player decided to go away and not play.
Putin33 (111 D)
14 Nov 11 UTC
Go back and look at the beginning of the thread to see how this was made in "jest" (Redhouse didn't even get Abgemacht's "joke" and was stone cold serious about him asking his friend about the term girl). Evidently the meaning of words don't particularly matter, or maybe it's opposite day and trolling means the opposite of what it normally means. The people who deliberately inflame threads, like Yellowjacket in this case, are the trolls. Get that straight.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
14 Nov 11 UTC
If by "inflame," you mean, "raise points that competently argue against yours and sometimes make you look foolish," then yes, I'm guilty.
Putin33 (111 D)
14 Nov 11 UTC
The point is this while it appears like a usual tactic to lay the blame for every marathon thread at my feet, I didn't start the fire here. Evidently some people around here like to dish it out but can't tolerate any response, that's "trolling".

"raise points that competently argue against yours and sometimes make you look foolish,"

Something like that. If by "making me look foolish" you mean "displaying your painful ignorance about racial sensitivity while arrogantly insisting that I'm making stuff up" then ok, fine. Go ahead and declare victory.
Draugnar (0 DX)
15 Nov 11 UTC
The thread was not created to inflame you. You can repeat it till your fingers fall off but you will still be wrong. The thread was created to apologize to those Orbison frustrated by the stupidity that was this game. No amount of your stupidity can change that simple fact. The post is there for all to read and you are a tool to deny it or try to avoid it.

Stupid ducking autocorrect. :-)

Those of us...
Putin33 (111 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
It quickly turned into a flame fest, not by my initiation, but by a series of other peoples'. I'm not getting pinned for trolling this stupid thread.
Draugnar (0 DX)

AAAAARGHHHHH!!!!!
Draugnar (0 DX)
15 Nov 11 UTC
Will you admit the thread wasn't created to inflame you or not?
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
15 Nov 11 UTC
Yes, my belief that I shall not let society's lowest common denominator decide what words I can and cannot use in particular contexts is a clear sign of racial insensitivity. Well struck, sir!
Putin33 (111 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
Yep, lowest common denominator. That you think oppressed groups who are routinely victimized by abusive language are the "lowest common denominator" says everything I need or care to know about you. A real hero, you are, boss. Keep standing up for those misunderstood bigots, they obviously need all the help they can get.
Putin33 (111 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
Created, no. But that doesn't matter much, as it was used by others for that purpose.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
15 Nov 11 UTC
lol

Wow, Putin, what did you do to these people to make them hate you so much? : )

I really can't tell if they are misreading your posts on purpose just to fight or if they dislike you so much they are actually mentally unable to properly read what you write.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
15 Nov 11 UTC
Well, for one thing, by LCD I was talking about those who would use a word in an inappropriate manner. Putin, naturally, assumed I was talking about minorities.

Perspective says a great deal, that's all I'm saying, and this isn't the first time his liberal majesty has jumped to whatever conclusion makes another look the worst.
Putin33 (111 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
Nice try Yellowjacket, but that doesn't even make sense. The argument wasn't about bigots determining what words can or cannot be used. It was about whether certain words should be used if others find them offensive.
Putin33 (111 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
"I really can't tell if they are misreading your posts on purpose just to fight or if they dislike you so much they are actually mentally unable to properly read what you write."

Neither can I.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
15 Nov 11 UTC
I see. So now you ARE just calling me a racist. I'm done with you, tool.
Putin33 (111 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
You're the one who said lowest common denominator and then expect me to believe you meant something that made no sense whatsoever.
redhouse1938 (429 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
Bump. I just thought this was the coolest thread ever ;-)
Draugnar (0 DX)
15 Nov 11 UTC
I understood exactly what YellowJacket meant. He meant the people who coopted the word to insult another group of people (i.e. the racists/bigots/sexist pigs) were the lowest common denominator. Not the people against whom the words were meant. But as is typical of Putin, he twisted it to fit whatever met his need and didn't read for context or the writers intent, instead overlaying his own predisposition to be an contrary and find fault as everyone is wrong and only Putin is right.

So, YJ, why don't we both let Putin's next smarmy and ignorant remark be the last word on this. You know it's coming, so we stop feeding him.
Putin33 (111 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
I guess we should believe the guy who doesn't even know what smarmy means about issues of interpretation and reading comprehension.

A Tale Told By An Idiot, Full of Sound And Fury, Signifying Nothing--"Anonymous?"
I'm seeing it with friends tommorow--wasn't, fought it for weeks, but yeah...it's illogical to say "They're forcing me to go," and yet, nevertheless, we all know the feeling of friends "forcing" others, bullshit or not...

Anyone seen it? Or wants to see it? Am I going to want to pour poison in Emmerich's ear and run him through after seeing it? ;)
