I saw J. Edgar yesterday and thought it was fairly fantastic. At the very least, I thought DiCaprio would be a shoe in Oscar nominee (or even winner). Reviews, on the other hand, were less positive. Anyone else seen it?

a couple of years ago, when public press games must be played on the forum, a few guys did a poetic version of public press (some of you old enough might recall). if anyone is interested, i would love to start a game like that.

How do players come up with the games that they create. I for one enjoy using music references. For example, I am in 2 games that I have created. The first is BYOB (song by system of a down). The second is This Time We'll Blast It All to Hell (line from green days' f.o.d.)

Cause he just started a live game. In otherwords hes probably running two accounts in this game and is gonna meta us all hard.
Well yeah I know he's out and about. I just didn't think one would go back in his game history long enough to see that.
Diplomat33 (243 D(B))

The issue is what will be done with them. Im not one to accuse of cheating in a forum, but this is pretty obvious. But the players haven't been on in years. What will be done?

Why would you expect something to be done if players haven't been on in years? Why would you even mention it?
Synarus (110 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
Even if they were on its circumstantial evidence. What it does suggest is that he has a history of making proxy accounts nothing more and nothing less. Is he smurffing? Maybe but it is not the type of the evidence that he should get in trouble let alone reported for.

That being said, ganging up on him first in games might be a good way to test if he is proxying.

I was really impressed by the level of play in both games. Innovative and forward-thinking strategies were effectively applied in an unprecedented manner.

jmo1121109 (3812 D)

Maybe we can rename this thread: "How many ways can we break the rules in a single thread"
Lets see that last post by Synarus covered
2. No Meta-gaming
and
3. Don't work around game messaging/press rules. (assuming you really are in a live game with him)

4. Do not use the software or moderators as a diplomacy tactic
"All accusations against other players must be made directly to the mod/admin team directly as specified below, in private,"

9. Follow common sense (for good measure)

Nice start! Keep up the excellent work!

This is jmo on another account I got on without permission. I have also strategically paused a game a was losing and refused to talk to mods about it. Just making sure all bases have been covered now:

1. No Multi-Accounting
5. The Pause/Unpause feature is not a diplomatic tool
6. You may not access another player's account without permission
7. Do not spam the forum or private messaging system
8. You must answer communication from site staff

We aren't proxy accounts. We've acted independently of him before, and we will again
redsox2831 (993 D)

those old games were when i was running an email game and i was unsure of the outcome, so i used this site to simulate it for me.

now, my clan as you call them are just some of my classmates that enjoy diplo but our experience is lacking. we stab ourselves as much as we stab our non-classmates. theres not always 7 randos to play live games with so sometimes we play together. sorry im not sorry.

SuperSteve (894 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
That's fine. I really don't understand how I could be violation when I never made any sort of accusation, whatsoever.

I merely asked an honest question about some games in order to figure out what was going on. I thought more experienced members could educate me. Because the explanation was that there was shadiness involved it means I have made an accusation?

That doesn't seem very fair that I now have an infraction on my permanent record.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
15 Nov 11 UTC
Well, it's not a permanent record so much as a post-it note on my desk.

The point is, if you are concerned about the legitimacy of a game (I can't image you could have been implying anything else), you should contact the mods.
You keep Post-It Notes of my infractions on your desk?

temptation to commit infractions to fill up your desk with pink "President Eden infraction" notes +10
Putin33 (111 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
I was under the impression this was already reported to the mods.
Putin33 (111 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
I mean, cite me again, but I'm not playing live games until this stops. Since this was already reported, and will likely be reported multiple times again, I don't know what the hell we can do since we can't even complain that it persists.
Yeah, for sake of not playing more ruined games with potential cheats -- sent reports for three separate incidents in the past 72 hours -- I'm going to boycott live games until the mods complete their investigations. There's been a rather ridiculous wave of suspicious games lately. If I'm wrong about any of them I will make a public apology to the exonerated ones.
Diplomat33 (243 D(B))
15 Nov 11 UTC
I made no accusation either, or at least a formal one. I may have been hinting at it but never actually did.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
15 Nov 11 UTC
You guys can boycott live games all you want, but it's not going to make us work faster. We're already handling as many cases we can as quickly as we can. I spent an hour last night helping mods with clearing out cases. This one isn't going to get pushed to the top of the list because you guys chose the wrong way to report it.

Live games are always a risk because we can't stop someone from cheating until the game is over. You should play live games with people you know. Isn't there a Live Game Club for this very reason?

And, if you aren't happy with the mods, you can complain all you want, but don't do it by accusing people of cheating.

@D33

If I "hinted" that you were a cheater, your reputation would be ruined and you would never be able to play with any competent players again. So, just don't do it to other people, ok?
Draugnar (0 DX)
15 Nov 11 UTC
@D33 - Oh the irony of a known cheat hinting at others having cheated (which the mods had previously said was also verboten and which abgemacht points out as here)... You really should learn to keep your mouth shut about cheating on the forum. Everytime you do, someone (probably me) will point out that you cheated and are only here by the grace of the mods.
damian (675 D)

Re: Live games club. It died out primarily due to lack of use. The players who were interested in it all decided that they didn't have time to play live games or that there weren't enough players to play when people wanted to.

However I am quite happy to hunt down all the information I saved on the club and put it up again if people want to use it.

I was going to suggest to all of you boycotting live games, that maybe this weekend we or you could try and get a passworded live game going.
GD, there was a live game club? Oh, hang on here, will that be a mid-atlantic club? Playing friday night games on saturday morning with a major hangover just kills me.
damian (675 D)
15 Nov 11 UTC
There was indeed a live games club. I founded it. However it never really got off to much of start unfortunately. Membership wasn't closed by region. However I'm fair sure that most of the players in the club were North American. Meaning that times for most North American players were pretty reasonable.

I'm seeing it with friends tommorow--wasn't, fought it for weeks, but yeah...it's illogical to say "They're forcing me to go," and yet, nevertheless, we all know the feeling of friends "forcing" others, bullshit or not...
