Just making a list....
Hello WebDip. I'm making a list. If you think that feminism is harming society, or that black activists are "race-baiters," or that America's only moral obligation is to the American nation, or that anthropogenic climate change is overblown, or that laws to economically assist the poor such as a minimum wage are counter-productive to economic growth, or that "privilege" as a concept is an invention of ivory tower academics, please subscribe to my list. :D

I've had the "misorder" thing played against me (and played it myself) so many times that I've lost track. Since when is that against the rules? And is it not against the rules if the mods/admins don't get involved?
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
30 May 13 UTC
As long as I can remember, obviously it isn't enforced unless someone points us out though. To be clear it's only if you say that the cause of the misorder was due to a site bug. Saying that you forgot to save new orders or didn't have time to get to the site is fine.

4. Do not use the software or moderators as a diplomacy tactic
Lying is fine in Diplomacy except when it gives mods/admins unnecessary work to do!

Falsely accusing someone of being a multi-accounter/meta-gaming to rally others against them in a game, or claiming that your orders didn't come out the way you entered them to cover up your motives, means mods/admins spend time looking for cheaters/bugs which were made up.

All accusations against other players must be made directly to the mod/admin team directly as specified below, in private, for this reason, and software bug claims must be genuine, even if only told to another player.

"claiming that your orders didn't come out the way you entered them to cover up your motives, means mods/admins spend time looking for cheaters/bugs "

Removing the cheaters part (I get that) how does claiming the server screwed up cause the mods any time hunting a bug if the player who makes the claim doesn't report it to the mods. Just because you write it doesn't make it true. If that were the case then I make this rule: Draugnar is the supreme ruler of the universe! Must be true cause I wrote it.

And it was an old PM that has long since fallen off my home or messages screen, jmo.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
30 May 13 UTC
Or, on the other hand, we should just say "don't lie."

Which is flat out stupid. The mods/admins all know that misorders are either a) on the player, or b) on a random glitch; why would it ever be investigated unless it's frequent? The only software pieces that can be used as a diplomatic tool are the draw and pause buttons. Maybe you can pull the "he muted me; I can't see his messages" claim (as has been done to me) into that category, but even that is questionable.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
30 May 13 UTC
"how does claiming the server screwed up cause the mods any time hunting a bug if the player who makes the claim doesn't report it to the mods. "

Because we get reports from the person the lie is told too. An example:
Draugnar tells bo_sox that he didn't move to Serbia because his moves got messed up with a bug. bo_sox reports the error because he's actually worried the site isn't working right. The team then contacts the player in question, asks if it really was a bug, if it was we have to pause the game right away and email Kestas, ask him to look into it, and it turns into quite the time sink.

It's not my rule, it was made far before I joined the team and I've seen in enforced before I joined the team.

@bo, there are a fair number of bug reports we receive, and we have to get them looked into, even if it probably just is something browser side.

The Rules are CLEAR and there are plenty of good reasons for having them with regard to allegations of cheating, and I support the current Rules regarding allegations of cheating.
Quoting superstitious nonsense in the form of a Biblical text has NO RELEVANCE and is of NO VALUE with regard to a discussion of the Rules of this site.
You are free to have whatever spiritual beliefs you choose, just do not use them to incite hatred or violence, and this site is for Diplomacy gaming, & there are other Web sites that are more suitable for religious / superstitious discussions, please try to distinguish your purpose and use other sites for religious / superstitious chit chat

@jmo - I already gave you a simple, effortless, absolute minimal time solution. All bug reports must come from the player who claims his orders were screwed up. Anyone else gets a polite version of bugger off.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
31 May 13 UTC
I agree that could be reasonable, it's not my rules or choice though. When the rules give leeway the mods get to make the choice, but we can't just let something go on that Kestas specifically said no too. You can ask him about it though, and I'd recommend it in this case because there are some valid points in this thread.

@ava, I'm explaining how Draug can make his own demands of justice on this rule in case you were about to eat another shoe in disgust.

I am not going to use the lame excuse saying, "Oh, I am only asking a question, I am not accusing anyone". Nobody can prove my intention right? Did I intend to ask a question or I intended to do an indirect accusation? Only God and I know that.

I am going to use fact to say this. The game I was playing and the player involved was anonymous. Therefore, technically I am not accusing anyone. Agree?

What I observe is that quite common, people would use intention, put intentions into my head, and accused me of certain intention while they disregard the facts which support my cause. Most other people fall for such tactics and they create problems for me. Isn't that interesting?

The previous post has a reference to old post:
I sent a message to a player, asking for a DMZ. The player still moved in, citing not knowing my request. I send the logged message but the player insisted its not in his log. When I wonder if the game had a bug, the player did not want the moderator to look into the log.

Would the above scenario matches the violation of rule 4) in this link webdiplomacy.net/rules.php

Basically this player is using the software as a mean to cover his track. When I wonder if the moderator can look into his claim [not having my message sent to him], he said I am using the moderator as part of the politics.

What ya think?

05:03 AM [Pacific-Russia]:You sent me no text proposing the Poland DMZ proposal. I want to recognise the vile creature for what you are, and I will expose your insecure nature to the rest of the world.
05:22 AM [You]:Really, you gotta be kidding me?
~05:03 AM [Pacific-Russia]:there, happy?
~05:03 AM [Pacific-Russia]:there, happy?
~05:03 AM [Pacific-Russia]:why don't you say this: "I make up stories about beating children, and I find brain damage funny. I care about no one else, and I am an insecure person"
~05:03 AM [Pacific-Russia]:surely its not that hard.
05:24 AM [You]:Wow, you know what, there is a possibility the game had a bug and did not send the message to your box. In my box it shows that I sent, but if you did not see it, then it's the game's bug.

I can petition the Moderator to prove it to you and fix the bug.
~05:03 AM [Pacific-Russia]:Now you're just finding excuses to bring the moderator into this.
~05:03 AM [Pacific-Russia]:Yes?
05:26 AM [You]:No, clearly the software had a bug?
~05:03 AM [Pacific-Russia]:In which case the moderators already know about it. Don't deny it. You want to bring moderators into this.
~05:03 AM [Pacific-Russia]:I have no problem with this 'bug'.
05:35 AM [You]:If they already know about it, they will tell me, "We already know about it. No need to look into it." but if they don't know about it, they will look, then improve the software. Just leave it to the moderators, they know what to do.

Let me clarify, I did not say my post was anonymous. I would say it is public, many people read my post on this forum.

What I said was, the player was anonymous. Proof, what is the name of that player? Does anyone else know except the player himself/herself and the Mod? I certainly don't know that player.
