Ski Areas and Field Stations don't really compare to cities.

Brighton has a population of nearly 45,000 (yes 45 thousand), hardly kist a ski area or research station. Syracuse has 144,000, true, but LA has how many million and yet we don't downgrade Syracuse. Hell, Cincinnati is bigger than Syracuse. So I would say Brighton qualifies at over 3 times Syracuse's annual snowfall.
Putin33 (111 D)
10 Dec 13 UTC
Brighton is in fact, a ski resort in Utah.

Anyway I'm from the Syracuse area. My hometown gets more snow than Syracuse, but we only have 18,000 people. Syracuse is the snowiest city of 50,000 or greater in America.
Putin33 (111 D)
10 Dec 13 UTC
"Yikes! Here is western Oregon we're going to have had about a week of snow and that is quite high."

Pacific weather is weird.

"Cinci only does about 2.5 to 3 months."

Cincitucky gets snow? I thought that only happened in Keanu Reeves movies.

And Los Angeles is the second-snowiest city of 12 million or greater in America.

People live in Brighton and it is a (small) city that also has a ski resort. And LOTS of snow!

Bob gets it. Like it or not, Brighton is an actual city and it gets over 400 inches of snow a year.

My second-favorite place to ski. Behind Alta and just ahead of Snowbird. Park City is 4th on the list. And no, I am not from Utah.

It's been quite a while since I've seen snow...

Well, I'm not sure actually. There was this one storm a couple of days while I was walking my dog, and it felt like a shitload of rain and a bit of hail, but my dog became more white than usual (he's black and white) and that makes me wonder... It's been very close though. It's definitely getting warmer around here.

I just don't get how people can complain about how cold it is here in the Netherlands...

It's winter and I still go outside with a simple vest quite often. I mean sure, people call me crazy because of it, but still...

IMO, it's cold when it's freezing, because then it sort of hurts when you're outside without a jacket.

I know it has snowed in the Netherlands, but I don't know... The snow is just not here...

Park City, Utah is according to the census and it gets 141.8", still more than Syracuse. The idea that Syracuse has the most snowfall of any city in the US is simply false. Syracuse likes to spread that tale, but it only works if you consider populations over 100,000 people.

Personally, I have no stake in the game. Cinci and it's surrounding cities are very typical snowfall totaling an average of about 22" a year. Although we have had winters and days with copious amounts of snow, like the blizzard of 77 where we had 8 foot snowdrifts on either end of the little farming community I lived in and nobody was going anywhere. Luckily, we had a town grocer and he lived in in the house next to his store. He had a four wheel drive pickup with chains and could get from one end of town to another (maybe a mile total) even in the bad weather with chains. He just made certain we all had milk and bread and peanut butter and stuff. We were out of school for almost 2 weeks. It was like a second Christmas break.

I live in Portland, Maine. Apparently our average annual snowfall is 61.8". You'd think it would be more than that, but there you have it.

@Abge,
"No kidding. It amazes me how poorly people drive in ice/snow here. We have this weather for 4-5 months out of the year. How do you not get used to it?"

Pfft. Amateur. There's an old joke about Maine that we've only got two seasons here: winter and the 4th of July.
Draugnar (0 DX)

I love Maine. I want to visit there some day. IT and Vermont and New Hampshire. Forests and mountains and snow in the winter and all green and foresty in the summer. Never too hot, plenty of cold in the winter and at night for snuggling by a fireplace with a few close lady friends ...er... my wife.

My parents still talk fondly of the winter of '63, when the snow in the south of England was several feet deep (with drifts of 20 feet), lasted from December until march, and the sea froze for over a mile on several days.

You don't get extreme weather like that anymore. I blame the calming influence of global warming.

Maine is incredible. Like hecks said, you've got to hit the whole thing. I still prefer Banff but only because of the skiing...

New Hampshire is the best climbing. Of course, I'm pretty sure Draug isn't climbing....
hecks (164 D)
10 Dec 13 UTC
Yeah. Maine has fantastic hiking, but the rock climbing is no good. There are only a handful of worthwhile crags, even for bouldering. The North Conway area of NH is way better for that. Are you a climber, Bo?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
10 Dec 13 UTC
Yeah, the best climbing in Maine is the Otter Cliffs. They are fantastic viewing but the actual climbing is relatively easy.

What kind of site to create?
I'm going to create a site for school, and ideally it's about something useful, ideally even potentially profitable, or at least breaking me even if I decide to actually get it hosted. Any idea's on what to make it about? Anyone wants a site made by me maybe? I'm just clueless.

Wal-Mart Tasering Class Action Lawsuit
I saw a commercial from a legal firm looking for people that have been tasered by Wal-Mart security. After the incident on Black Friday it's about time that it happened. Depending upon the victim's health a taser can cause heart attacks and fracture bones especially since this "safe" weapon gets used multiple times.
