That's a milquetoast piss-poor characterization of how fascism treats speech, to say nothing of fascism generally. That "disagreement is treason" is one tenet of fascism by Eco's definition (and is expressed in other forms by other definitions, e.g. Gentile's "police apparatus that prevents, controls, and represses dissidence and opposition, even by using organized terror"), but bb's argument doesn't even approach that, and you implicitly acknowledge that by the weakness of your wording.

The idea that some things are offensive and should not be said is pretty damn near universal. There is not a society on the planet where that isn't true; even the lousy online shitholes that pride themselves on allowing their members to say anything usually end up with orthodoxy and taboos, the difference being that the quality of their orthodoxy and taboos are usually awful.

and remember much of what Hitler RAN on, was social ideas. Many German's already hated the Jewish population for the aftermath of WWI, and Hitler was anti-Jew/pro-nationalist for quite a while.

that's wrong, b/c the North, by winning the war made the southern flag an internal faction's flag, rather than a separate country's flag. The South fought for Independence, but the North refused to recognize them for a separate country.

By the North's own qualifications, the flag of the Confederacy would be ruffly equivalent to the Democrat's or Republican's flag.

in truth the Confederate flag is not solely seen racial terms. But... even if it WERE solely in racial terms, it'd still be their right to keep it, no matter what level of asshole they were. Do you really get more pissed over a flag, than the Actual Literal KKK? I have much less of a problem with an ideological symbol than the actual people who support it.

Also @brainbomb, one of the biggest fiascos was Apple banning any Apps that had the Confederate flag in it. They claimed if used in historical light it'd be fine, but many gamers uncovered that this wasn't the case, as they banned civil war games that were simulations, not promotions.

The Mexican Flag is a different country's flag. That's different. It's proposing a foreign symbol on American soil. Outside of an embassy, that's a very iffy claim to make

Literally the only thing in common here is that someone got offended. They're not being offended by similar things, and they're not advocating similar responses to the offense. So if your only point of comparison between bb and hitler is that neither of them was a patron saint of never being offended, congratu-fucking-lations, but it doesn't make bb's position fascist in any way, shape or form.

I never thought I would see a conservative arguing from a position of total moral subjectivity, but here we fucking are. More to the point, though, once again we see that the only thing in common here is that each person has a nonzero number of things they consider hateful crap. "Making insulting/degrading remarks towards LGBT" and "Being a Jew" are not similar things, and the responses proposed are again completely different. So unless you're arguing that having something one considers hateful crap is a particularly fascist position (and I would LOVE to see you try), your analogy provides no relevant points of similarity between bb's position and fascism.
