Nevada, Mass., California, Arizona and Maine all voting for recreational legalization. If enough states go this route will a federal ban be lifted?
orathaic (1009 D(B))

If the federal ban is lifted will the international ban on transporting it be changed?
ssorenn (0 DX)
21 Oct 16 UTC
Two vastly different issues

I believe inevitably the federal ban will be declassified At a minimum.

No idea how the international stage will deal with the issue

Legalisation for medical use is one step, but legalisation of recreational use is a much bigger reform / change... But it's a way to redirect some money from the illegal drug economy into the legal economy and tax it...you need taxes to help fund the war on drugs and one of the world's largest prison systems
brainbomb (290 D)

California recreational will be a HUGE economic boost for them.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)
21 Oct 16 UTC
As to international changes that might follow from US states legalising recreational use, if California went down that path and other northern states then it will be interesting to see what happens in Canada, particularly as Canada likes to be a supplier when the USA gets a prohibition bug up it's ass on booze, or in more recent times as a supplier of marijuana

Absolutely disgusting; shows the collapse of America's moral fabric.
Oregon is making a ton of money from recreational cannabis, much of which is going towards schools. Everyone wins.

You think the legalization of marajauna is is going to brake the moral fabric of the country Leon?

Leon does it morally bother you that gambling and tobacco taxes fund schools and childrens programs or is it only marijuana?

The medicinal benefits are through the roof, not to mention that the revenue can help some starved states.

Maybe Leon is a lobbyist at for big pharma

I think it's hilarious when Republicans argue against legalizing pot.

Is the moral fabric made of hemp? Because many great names of this country, including George Washington, grew it.

I figure brainbomb lives in one of the states that has, already legalised the recreational use of this pernicious weed..although there is a passage in Genesis about God creating the herbs and the grasses & them being good...and smoking it, well that's got to be as beneficial as tobacco smoking.
ssorenn (0 DX)

Hemp is on the verge of being a tradeable commodity on a national level. I'm investing in it and it's a multi billion dollar crop as it sits. With tremendous growth potential

Nope. Missouri has a ton of meth problems. And my home state Nebraska is suing the federal govt for allowing colorado to have it.

Supreme court declined to even hear the case so they are SOL with this constant wave of cases. Neithet Trump or Hillary are likely to break up this kind of revenue.

No majormitchell. I work in academia I'm not really supposed to be smoking pot whether its legal or not lol.

So I just dont even do it anymore. I dont think it needs to be a crime. Its stupid people get misdemeanors and shit for owning pipes too. Absurd.

Question: Is the "Republic vs. Democracy" thing just an American thing?
I've heard Americans talk about how "America is a republic not a democracy". Using the standard definitions of those words it doesn't make any sense, however if you use the ridiculous definitions those people come up with than it is true. Does anyone outside of the US use this ridiculous dichotomy or is it just Americans?

People You Know
So, when it comes to friends and family, one should only play password protected games with them. But what about people I am meeting at face to face games in clubs in my state? What about if I start getting involved in the tournament scene? How do the more experienced players on here handle it? At what point does it become inappropriate to play in public games with people you have met through the game?

Just curious no real reason for asking but I thought mods were suppose to notify you why they locked your threads? I mean how can people learn what they did wrong (if anything) if they don't tell us?

Question
in a recent poll 7% of Americans value the continuity of government by supporting Gary Johnson for president. The other 93%? well they are split between a Guinea pig mounted atop a racist cantaloupe; and a half robot, half human she-devil.
