Question: Is the "Republic vs. Democracy" thing just an American thing?

I've heard Americans talk about how "America is a republic not a democracy". Using the standard definitions of those words it doesn't make any sense, however if you use the ridiculous definitions those people come up with than it is true. Does anyone outside of the US use this ridiculous dichotomy or is it just Americans?

I liked Trump a lot early on. He was someone shaking up the status quo of the GOP, and he seemed moderate enough compared to guys like Cruz to beat Hillary in the general.

Well, as time went on, he's moved more to the right (bad for the general), more to the crazy (bad for the general), and more off the deep end (bad for the general).

At this point I'm like 50/50 on him actually being a Clinton plant to secure the election for her, and his gain? Publicity to launch his new Trump Media Network.

I actually agree with Chaqa. The Republican party could have had a solid chance at beating Hillary with Rubio, lindsey graham, or rand paul.

Say what you like about Trump, he has put himself at the centre of the US election in much the same way as the Lion is at the centre of a tin of Lyle's Golden Syrup.

I'm just glad I'll be away from it all when the election happens :). Holiday time soon!

People You Know

So, when it comes to friends and family, one should only play password protected games with them. But what about people I am meeting at face to face games in clubs in my state? What about if I start getting involved in the tournament scene? How do the more experienced players on here handle it? At what point does it become inappropriate to play in public games with people you have met through the game?
