Slow down, cowboy. The settlements are illegal and Israel's actions as an occupying power in the West Bank have been quite bad over the years, but this is neither genocide nor ethnic cleansing. It's unjust, but we should reserve those particular words for the more serious atrocities going on in the world today. It's not like there's a shortage of those.


It's not true that Israelis don't want a two-state solution. Polls consistently show they do by large margins. It's really a fairly lefty country. It is Likud and the other right-wing parties who do not want a two-state solution, and the Israelis keep putting them in government thanks to Israel's highly dysfunctional political system.

Also, and we can't ignore this, the wider geopolitical situation in the Middle East at the moment makes a two-state solution politically impossible even if tomorrow the new PM was the most dovish politician imaginable. No Israeli government will give up the Judean hills and the Jordan valley while the Islamic State exists. It's simply too much of a risk.

I don't think we should play the 'Israel is ok because they are not as bad as other genocidal maniacs game', that really is a race to the bottom, Israel have been occupying Palestinian land and oppressing the residents for a very long time now, you may just think it's normal because the international community turn a blind eye but there are still a large number of outstanding UN resolutions against Israel that are unenforced, mainly because the US is the paymasters of the UN and love Israel to bits.
It is insulting to the lefty movement to suggest Israelis are left-wing, poll after poll showed overwhelming support for the attack on innocent civilians in Gaza, I don't doubt there are left wings in Israel campaigning for the end to the ethnic cleansing, unfortunately they get nowhere near the same airtime as a group of wailing soldiers whenever one of the army gets killed, imagine if those were the pictures we got back from Afghanistan every time we lost a US/UK soldier/servicemen, a group of wailing soldiers surrounding a coffin, I think we would lose faith in our armed forces.
In the interests of 'balanced reporting' (no pun intended if you have actually seen Western coverage of the conflict) I have seen literally hours of footage of residents in downtown Tel Aviv telling us what a burden those sirens going off has been and using that as a justification for the IDF to continue shelling innocent men, women and children, it's sickening. I cannot think of a less appropriate name for the Israeli butchers, the Israeli Defense Force, if that's defense what does attack look like. I wish I was more religious because then I would be sure the Israelis would be going to hell for their actions.
You say Israel has a highly dysfunctional political system, who is planning to change that in the near future? It seemed to function well enough to continue an all out assault on the neighbours and then steal 1000 acres as punishment for deaths of teenagers, although no one knows who did this in the eyes of psychopaths this is a justifiable reason to steal more land .... these guys have lost all sense of justice, morality, reality.
