A fleet in WMED can still cut support from a fleet in Spain (nc), right?

I quit live games.
Every single time I join a live game I forget about it and go CD.

Multi'ing and rules and such
Another PR from me, so please wait for me to post and don't noise it up, please.

I'd like to address the 'claiming' of bolshoi in the thread I locked.

He claimed a few things:
1.) He is multi'ing (which is against the rules and got him punished, after a warning he ignored)
2.) He has a script that creates new users with other IPs
3.) He plays in games together with these multi's, forces them into CD and wins the games.

This, of course, is a load of garbage.
First, let me point you to his profile "Won: 2 ( 5% )" Two wins out of 40. If he's following his 'plan' it is failing miserably.

Secondly, IP is a very basic way to find a multi. The first thing 'clever' multi's try to do is use different machines. Let me assure you that we are quite familiar with this technique, know all the major and even some small proxy servers, and things of that nature. IP is a very low-weight piece of evidence we use when we are working a case. There are so many other ways to track and catch multi's that IP is something we usually don't need.

Also, he had this schpeel about writing a script that generates users. I'd like to see someone write this script. Remember, it has to go through one of those 'what are the letters in this graphic' catchpa's, you have to give it a valid email, you have to verify the email by clicking a link that comes into your inbox. Is it possible? Certainly. I'm a developer and I'm sure I could create a program (it'd be MUCH more than a script) to do this. However, I'd also need to a program to generate multiple gmail accounts or something along those lines to go with the users. And check them and remember the passwords....
All in all, the time spent to do that isn't worth it, because once you get caught (and you -will- get caught... easily, in fact), all that work will be for nothing.

Also, this script that 'plays the game'? Go find some bots that play diplomacy. They are either stuck as a gunboat bot that doesn't understand the intricacies of looking at previous orders, or can't communicate in a way that seems 'human'. Not to mention that each bot would have to be custom made to work on this website. Another 'weeks of work only to be undone in a second once it is found out'.

What he wrote is a troll, and I hate baiting a troll, but I wanted to assure everyone that everything he said was a flat-out lie and there is nothing to worry about.

If there are questions and concerns (I'm sure someone will take something I said and blow it up and I'll have to explain or qualify it, so let me know before you blow your lid), please let me know.

Fort Knox I'm sure you can advise me here, I would be most grateful.
If I come on the forum and ask for a couple of friends to ally with me in a game and then proceed to do so in a game, would I be punished?
Then I'm summising that if I didn't advertise the alliance with my friends but just did it I would not be punished.
How can you tell if I had a genuine alliance formed in the game or if I've teamed up with mates prior to the game? Just because I know people (e.g. we're classmates) surely that does not mean I can't ally with them in a game once or maybe twice, maybe a few times.
Please advise
regards
Nigee

The mods are experienced diplomacy players; we can tell the difference. And, if we're not sure, we'll ask you and the truth usually comes out.

What about when the players tell you in the global chat that they are playing as an alliance and a quick browse over their playing history tells that in just about every game they play they do the same.
I'm only making the point to highlight an apparent contradiction in the way the rules are applied. It doesn't really matter, taking to its logical conclusion people will eventually not bother reporting this to the Admin Team but just get pissed off that the games and players are so poorly monitored. Who cares anyway, no more postings from me on the subject as I feel I've made my point...... I thought I was helping you guys :-)

Nigee, you accused me and Frank of cheating in a gunboat when we had never played before and were both established players. I don't see what the point is of your devil's advocacy in this thread.

You're confusing me with detail here, I thought you wrote the following
'you accused me and Frank of cheating'
Why if I wanted to accuse you of cheating would I not just IM you, why would I make the accusation to a third person, it makes no sense?
I think you may find somebody here with an axe to grind. For the record in future if I want to accuse you or anybody of cheating I'll make it really simple by contacting them directly, I feel your friend does you no service with half-truths but I'm happy to tell you the truth directly if it helps :-)

Nigee

Sorry if I misunderstood the situation. I'll PM you.

But no ax to grind. I'm looking forward to playing you again in other games. I genuinely just didn't understand what point you were trying to make on this thread given my understanding of a previous situation.

@dubmdell: NigeeBaby sent me the message in reference to dubmdell's game saying (along the lines of):

"Can you please explain to me how two players can so perfectly coordinate their moves in a 'gunboat' game that is meant to have no communication. Something is definitely going on between Russia and Italy and I certainly hope you are not one of them, Sargmacher"
dubmdell (556 D)
19 Mar 12 UTC
Okay, thank you Sarg. I am carrying this into PM now.

My point though, is what is Nigee trying to say about helping each other when he accused me so flippantly? I suppose I was out of line.

A possible addition to the site
On VDip Oli added an "Extend" button, in addition to draw/pause/cancel. This delays the next phase for 4 days and could be used instead of the pause feature for short pauses and could speed up the whole process. Thoughts?

what's up with clooney/jolie/etc?
1. who is "directing" them to see the issues that support the elite agenda
2. are they proposing anything real, here, or just complaining?
3. are they aware that their "activism" is going to result in who knows how many deaths from the us military as has happened in iraq afganistan libya.
4. why does their understanding of world events remind me of an elementary school student exposed to too much propaganda?

WTF!
gameID=83522

Why in the world did England draw this game here. Russia and Italy could have been eliminated and probably France as well without much difficulty. It was bad enough that Italy continued to attack me the whole game instead of stopping Turkey but this ending was enough to make me spit. I fought off both and for nothing. Worst game I've ever been in.
