Can you choose a country in an anonymous gunboat game?

I have gotten the SAME country in the THREE out of FOUR World DIP Gunboat games. THREE TIMES THE SAME ROTTEN COUNTRY.

Is this just bad luck or did I not see how to set a preference list???

I have never seen a preference list. It is my understanding you get a somewhat random country depending on how many times you have gotten a prevous country before or something like that. Sounds like you just got really unlucky.

Excuse me Levelhead, but some people have worse luck than you. As a complete hater of France, I have gotten France Nine times. Seven of those were directly after each other. Why is it that the noobs always try to complain?

@ Atom Because this is something quite random, given how many people in a world diplomacy game. Because he hasn't been here for enough time FOR him to get France 9 times, and because he's asking a question, not strutting his luck around like it's a sign of skill.

I believe the thing is that the randomizer only takes into consideration finished games and not on-going games which is why so many people get the same country when they join many games at the same time.

Thanks all. I am in some gunboat games so I don't want to say which country it is. It's not a bad country (are there any?) but I'd prefer some variation, especially when I have just got started here (and no, I'm not a PlayDip refugee).

Weighting press 3x as much as gunboat to get composite rankings. . . .

The World Championship games I was in, I got assigned Italy both times I played, and it's definitely my weakest country. Imagine my surprise... "Italy AGAIN?" lol

OK. Now I have the same country FOUR OUT OF SEVEN TIMES in World Dip. This is more than just luck. How do I "e-mail the mods"??

The classic game mode has a feature which "balances the odds" of you getting countries, to make it much less likely that you'll get the same countries over and over.

It's still up to variants to do this for their own country allocation unfortunately (this is something we should change). This means that even though the world map has far more countries it's still more likely that you'll get a country four out of seven times than it is in classic mode

I find it odd that all of you seem to hate on England. I play mostly press games but most of my wins (i know i dont have any on here) come with England. If you can somehow talk your way into an alliance with germany and dispose of france quickly, you win. End of Story.
