Quick Support Question
I have an army in Livonia that wants to move to St. Pete. I have fleets in Norway and GoB. Obviously, the fleets can only move to North Coast or South Coast respectively, but can they both support the army in at the same time?

my worst fear
I play mostly in 5 min phase game and sometimes because my daughter is crying in her crib i have to drop.
Anyhow this is not the point I want to start a debate what you fear most playing against experienced players or against newbies ?
I fear more against newbies because they can do stupid things unpredictable that can cost them but also to the balance of the game :P

A smooth con
How does someone enter the end of a live game and walk away with 75 D for five minutes playtime?
Leonidas (635 D)
06 Jan 12 UTC
Last night I was playing a live 5 min game, worth 140 D, had numerous CDs in it, near the end it was me and 1 other player both sitting pretty close to 18 SCs. Someone else entered the game (9 D to enter) the other valid player had to go suddenly, asked me to draw....
I play to win, not draw, my one issue with this site is the amount of people who drop out or try and force a draw (can't wait to have a decsent amt of points).... Anyways he left, and this new guy (with only two SCs piped up saying 'why didn't you draw, it the right thing to do'
I'm new to online diplomacy, love the game! Anyways this guy guilted me into a draw, and unknown to me he walked away with 75 D! in less then ten minutes!. This is pretty obviously wrong to me, and had I known better, it wouldnt of happened.
So anyways i am curious what some of you diplomats out there think of this situation, and ask why/how it is allowed to go on, please tell me it's not normal practice.
Patriot (0 DX)

I would not draw. Take the center u can and end the game.
Draw in that situation would be stupid.
Leonidas (635 D)
06 Jan 12 UTC
Lol.. Yep it was stupid, i get that no excuses, i've read the site rules, just dont know them well yet, this aspect i now know well! Lol
My concern is how this gies on?

I don't know what you mean. It goes on because you were foolish enough to allow it to go on.
Leonidas (635 D)
06 Jan 12 UTC
Ok so all us foolish newbies, not the switched on ones, just the foolish ones can be exploited this way? It's a method of points grabbing unfairly, that puts certain users into a higher, yet false ranking, no?
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
06 Jan 12 UTC
Well it's a learning process. The game is called diplomacy. He tricked you into thinking that it was the right thing to do. You got diplomacized, and you won't fall for it again :)

If you don't know how the rules or scoring system works prior to beginning that's your fault. If he tricked you into thinking it was an etiquette thing, that's a bit shady, but it is within the realm of fair play.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
06 Jan 12 UTC
The point of the game is to do as well as you can, that means first winning, then drawing. If you can walk into a game with 2 centers and end up with a draw then all the power to you.

Though it seems like the player you are referring too has since been banned from the site.
Leonidas (635 D)

jmo1121109 (3812 D)

No, if you read in his profile it says he was banned for being a multi which means he had more then 1 account and was using these multiple accounts to cheat.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

What he did to you is legit, Leonidas. Suck it up partner :)
Leonidas (635 D)

Ok, so if it was a 149 D pot and I had gone onto win, would I have gotten the entire pot, or no? How does that work?
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
06 Jan 12 UTC
was the game PPSC (points per supply center, the default)?

in PPSC you'd get 1/2 the pot cuz you took 1/2 the centers.

in WTA (winner takes all) you'd get the whole shebang for a solo.

Thanks YJ, i'm all the wiser and savvy now to back door diplomacy! Lol
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
06 Jan 12 UTC
though in this specific case, since the #2 guy resigned, I believe in PPSC you'd have gotten 18/20ths of the total if England had 2 SC's. Could be wrong about that.
Leonidas (635 D)

I dont recall which points system it was, where would i find that out?
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
06 Jan 12 UTC
just click the game link. If it says nothing at the top if its ppsc, it says WTA if its WTA. This one was PPSC, I looked.

@Leonidas - Points aren't a ranking system. Tey were instituted here to keep new players from joining to many games (more than they can handle) and to reduce the number of quitters going CD as they lose their points and don't get refilled. They are a convenience mechanism is all. They were also implemented before live games were created IIRC or at least before live games took on such a prominent role in the site.

Personally, I'd rather see all games of a certain type have the same buyin (say 5 D for live, and 25 D for longer games) and we use the private game feature for those not wanting to deal with "noobs". Then point farming (as you just experienced) wouldn't be such a big deal.

Check this out too, Leonidas. This is the standard most of the better players use to measure their skill.

Question about a situation (mechanics)
Hello, I'm newbe and have a question about common situation :) . Let's suppose that I have one province with support center and enemy is near. Can I move army from that province to neutral province with supply center and build (from that new supply center) unit in the first province just before enemy will take it? (other words - if I will take supply center and hold there, will I be able to build unit before next turn?)
