my mexican neighbors are screaming at eachother right now in spanish.
Reminds me of a Facebook post of a sign that said "For Lease" with a phone number after it ("To Let" for my UK/irish friends). The number was spray painted river and written above was "navidad". Hahaha forlease navidad. Gotta love the taggers with the Christmas spirit! Who, I just heard a gunshot! They're probably just celebrating the birth of our lord, but I should take cover just the same. Out!

This guy is mad.

I'll continue: people who CD. And those who don't draw/cancel when countries CD in 1901.

Ghost Rating weighting all games equally so that people can't calibrate their style to the stakes (experimental low stakes vs. tried-and-true high stakes.) Leads to uptightness.
LStravaganz (407 D)

People who completely ignore other players. Especially when proposing alliances / DMZs / War loot etc.

I was under the impression that engaging in diplomacy was a key factor in Diplomacy.
virtuslex (483 D(S))

+1000 (can I do that?). Particularly to the draw/cancel. Thats actually the rudeness that bothers me more since I can understand forgetting once in a while or having real life pop up.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
24 Dec 13 UTC
tendmote, how do you mean? Doesn't GhostRating weight better players vs. worse?

People who care too much.
tendmote (100 D(B))
24 Dec 13 UTC
@Chaqa A winner stands to gain more from a win against high-ranked players, yes. But you're not allowed to choose the stakes, so you can't deliberately create a low-stakes game to try out some new shit. Not that it matters for me, of course.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
24 Dec 13 UTC
What do you mean by stakes? Like the point count? I'm a bit lost, as I don't really concern myself with ghost rating (other than checking to see where I stack up according to it). It's kind of like WAR in baseball, I know what it is but I don't like it too much.

Oh, I have another!

When there's a massively unbalanced game from CD and some douche won't draw.
LStravaganz (407 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
Not being able to talk to more than one player at a time. It's a pain trying to propose a 3-way alliance if the 3 countries can't talk in one collective chatbox.
LStravaganz (407 D)
24 Dec 13 UTC
Though I suppose that its a WebDip thing, not a problem with Diplomacy in general.

A group chat would be an awesome feature.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
24 Dec 13 UTC
@Chaca ghost rating all games equally defeats the beauty of the system. The more you have, the more you stand to lose. We operate under the principel that you should not gain as many points from beating 6 chumps as you do from beating 6 highly skilled players. It's a self-regulating system. Why do you see that as flawed?
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
24 Dec 13 UTC
Huh? I was just saying I don't like it, don't think it's flawed.
ghug (5068 D(B))

I love the comparison of GR to WAR. It's a simple, useful mathematical construct that people assume is claiming to be more than it is and choose to hate because it doesn't suit their arguments.

I don't hate it. I just would rather look at raw data, and go on a game-to-game basis.

Trolls. Even WebDip isn't free from them (I'm specifically referring to MeepMeep here...)

He once reported me to the mods for "lying" in a game, which was apparently against the rules. He then started to slander me in the global chat by calling me a rule-breaker.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

Yes, wasting the mods time (particularily for diplomatic gain) is against the rules :p

Rather then losing momentum by stopping at train stations, a moving platform system like a stretchable flat escalator should allow trains to scoop up and roll off passengers at speed. Discuss.
