WebDip Poll: Romney vs Obama.
Based on the recent previous discussions on the US election race and the new primaries that almost seal Romney's nomination, I thought it would be interesting to retake the poll that was previously taken over who will win between Romney and Obama in the 2012 US election:

Are you perfect or imperfect?
If you aren't perfect then isn't the best use of your time and energy striving to improve yourself instead of passing judgment on others? If you are perfect then why not share the secret with everyone instead of passing judgment on others?

Draw, Pause, Cancel
When this feature is used all at the same time - is there a general consensus as to what it is meant to imply?

My feeling is that the player is saying 'peace peace peace! we have to work together against the solo threat'. Is that what others see or do people just look at it without a second thought?

Leagues?
What's going on with the next league season?
1) I'm willing to organize (I will not be playing to remain neutral)
2) I have some ideas in terms of structural changes. Basically, starting from scratch and the games will be anon. I will post more details later.

One of the better commercials.
I'll admit it, I quite enjoy commercials. But when they play as long as this one has, it normally gets really annoying. Still one if my favourites though so I thought to share it with our non-hoser members. Enjoy.

Is it not also barely possible that there is a being who will punish me eternally if I accept the Christian faith?

Could there not be an evil God?

I have investigated it honestly and openly and I make it my business not to disparage the idea behind Christianity, which is just as possible as any other.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

Does the possibility that the message, preached by Jesus of Nazereth, was influenced by Buddhism take away from it's merit?

If I believe that there is no absolute objective morality, then I can't see that it makes any difference. And I do so believe.

Also @Mujus, in case i was previous rude, and unnecessarily aggressive, I apologise - I can't remember now why i was angry, but i was. (I can apologise for the tone without taking away from the content of my message, right?)

What reason does anyone have to doubt the Christian religion?
orathaic (1009 D(B))
20 Mar 12 UTC
@slyguy: I think the Billion of so Muslims in the world would claim that Mohamed was a more recent prophet from God than Jesus, and as such his message supersedes the Christian one...

The bible was written over thousands of years by over 50 different people, yet none of it contradicts itself, and the authors sometimes never met each other! None of it can be proved wroung. It's obviously 100% true and is the greatest book ever written...

I find that anyone who takes time and actually reads the bible is usually convinced of its authenticy
http://wtfdidtheysay.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/2397_bpfobu.jpg
Which part was so convincing, the part where the Sun stood still (implying that the Earth stopped rotating, implying that the law of conservation of angular momentum just mysteriously stopped working) or the part where everything sprang into existence in 168 hours about 4000 years ago?
orathaic (1009 D(B))
20 Mar 12 UTC
@Slyguy, have you read the Qur'an? Is that not reason enough to doubt the divinity of Jesus of Nazereth?
Slyguy270 (527 D)
20 Mar 12 UTC
tell me what it says I can't get on the sight eden
orathaic (1009 D(B))
20 Mar 12 UTC
I mean, you only wanted a reason for anyone to question christianity; I'm pretty sure i have you one.

Do you not think it's a good reason, or have you not read the Qur'an?
Slyguy270 (527 D)
20 Mar 12 UTC
Do I think what's a good reason?
it says "thar be a shitstorm a brewin"

now then, which part was convincing to you?
Slyguy270 (527 D)
20 Mar 12 UTC
I'm confused...
orathaic (1009 D(B))
20 Mar 12 UTC
That the Qur'an says Jesus was a prophet from God, and that the most recent Prophet (Mohamed) has the newest revision of what God wants us to do... i mean, if you haven't read the Qur'an that's fine, but just because you don't know about a reason doesn't mean you should advertise your ignorance.
Seriously though, was it the creation of the Earth in seven days or the defiance of the laws of physics by making the Earth stop rotating that convinced you of the truth of the Bible?
orathaic (1009 D(B))

I think you've turned him atheist!
Mujus (1495 D(B))

Simon, yes, we should each question our own beliefs--you are absolutely correct in that. But given an all-powerful God who sent his son to die for our sins and to buy us back out of the slavery/bankruptcy we sold ourselves into, it's easy to believe the rest of the Bible--God can do anything that's not contrary to his nature. Second point: The fact that there are religious philosophies that disagree with the Hebrew scriptures and the New Testament does not disprove anything in the Bible. If your point is merely that one should question one's beliefs, however, then I agree.

My favorite miracle of the all-powerful loving diety? Making a city exist when Joshua came through.

It's a pretty cool story, bro, 'cause Jericho was a ruin when Joshua showed up. Only ruins. Not after he showed up, /before/ he showed up. Yeah, a diety that can make a city appear just to knock it down again? That's my kind of diety.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

@Mujus: 'If your point is merely that one should question one's beliefs, however, then I agree.'

my point was in responce to 'What reason does anyone have to doubt the Christian religion?'

It was a fairly simple answer I thought. It is not my personal reason for doubt, just a reason which ~1 Billion Muslims have.

On the other hand, 'the same reason i have to doubt everything else' (Thucy) is entirely the position of the skeptic saying you should question everything.

There are other more direct attacks on the infallibility of the bible, but i don't think any were needed to address Slyguy's question.
