Whoever you are that wants a pause - how are we supposed to talk to each other to unpause later in an anonymous gunboat? That's why I'm not voting pause and I'm sorry if I'm a dick.

Book of Mormon
Just got back from NYC where I watched Book of Mormon. If you're a fan of South Park, I cannot recommend you watch this highly enough.

There were a few people there who clearly had no idea what was happening and were horrified; it made it all the better.

....... I would be interested to know how many other people have been abused (or amused) by e-mails from the 'experts' on this site because they played in an anonymous game and the 'expert' didn't like something you had done, so waits until the end of the game to e-mail abuse.

Game Glitch
link: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=81163#gamePanel

I believe there was a glitch in this game. As you can see, in spring 1904, the fleet in rumania attacked the fleet in the black sea which was convoying an army into sev. this attack should have prevented the convoy even though it had support from Armenia.

Why are some people such idiots?

If a game starts w/ two CD's, and 1 other player misses a move for some reason, who in their right mind wouldn't just cancel or draw that game for sake of balance?

Did I beat Barn in getting this up?
That was a nail-biter, eh?

Yup- slow on the draw. Was sooo hoping France would tap Rome one more time!

gg, all
GG indeed. And a point well made... A big thanks to jmeyersd for NOT tapping Rome again in S1916.

Wasn't about to throw the game to the guy that ate up all my stuff! GG all.
From my perspective it was a frustrating game. The west actually might have been decided in what was it? '02 when England supported GER to BEL. England and I could never really get on the same page unfortunately (England misinterpreted my move to the channel and letting Ger into NTH was a big one -- i don't blame him, but it was unfortunate), and with Germany mopping up Scandinavia so astutely, it was a just matter of time. Not to mention Italy messing me up throughout (well done) -- looking back i wish i'd just gone all out on him.
Barn3tt did a great job capitalizing on E's and my misunderstandings and definitely deserved to win the west.
Wish Austria had supported me to TUN!

tho i did think a 2-way draw was there. you guys didn't want to go for that, huh?

pleasure

And way to go Czech for putting up a stellar performance in this tourney thus far!

so what's that -- 4 down 3 to go?

Back at you Barn. It's been a good tourney. Thank you Lando and the mod who sorted out the positions.

I was so glas Rome wasn't tapped and I must admit when Austria forced Tyr and landed in Apu I was thinking about throwing the game., but I figured I had one more year to trust and I'm glad I did.

Is anyone keeping track of the results like the summer gunboat tourney?
Ha, I DID briefly consider going for the 2-way draw. The way the things were breaking down, there was the potential for it... until S1914. As soon a German fleet entered North Africa I gave up the idea and knew I had to include Italy if there was going to be any chance of stopping the solo; Tunis was going to make or break us, and though I could have gobbled up all of mainland Italy in F1914 I could not have saved Tunis if I had and the game would have been lost. In my estimation, anyway.

My beginnings as Austria were more humble than all of that, but my early success against a raging Juggernaut were thanks mainly to the other two survivors: Barn3tt/Germany and Czech/Italy. Germany kept Russia occupied in the north -- even giving me a crucial support into Galicia early on -- and Italy kept Turkey's fleets at bay. I managed to gain dominance on land in the Eastern half of the board eventually after some brutal fighting. It was just in time to set up a stalemate line against Germany on that front.

GG again to everybody. You are some excellent players.

I wrote something up today out of curiosity- just used Geofram's old system of 12 pts. per game, and divide up from there.

Czech... like I said above, I realized between S1914 and F1914 I HAD to include you. I was so, so glad that:

Great job Barn, twa, and Cze... well deserved. I think barn played an excellent game from my vantage point.

Once more, I show my utter inability to play this variant well. I simply can not do well in this game. Don't know where to improve.

jmeyer... I'm not sure what you were expecting. in 1902 you moved to Ech, moved por to MAO and Mar to Spa(sc). I think that can only have one interpretation. so there was no mis-interpreting involved. you suicided against me and I had to do my best to stop you. I hoped my signs of goodwill to germany would have resulted in some loyalty - but we all know that is a fools errand in Diplomacy - but it was my only hope.

Between 1904-6 there was simply no way for us to figure out what the other was trying to do - your repeated moves to Ech and attempt to move to Nth did not leave me with any hope that your intent was positive... the fleet in Nwg was particularly harmful to any such effort. Anyways - Germany got a well deserved win over both of us i think.

@Babak
I'm a bit hazy remembering now, but i'm pretty sure that my intentions were benign (in the midgame). I saw the German advance and we trying to supplement your navy, but I realize that this was very difficult to convey in gunboat and no blame attached to you. Germany just got the jump on us.
Very much agreed that Ger outplayed us both in that one.

P.S. gg in the Big Money game.

"Raging juggernaut" lolol. Is THAT what we were. *sigh*
Haha, perhaps it's a slight embellishment... But I honestly was expecting to get crushed when you first started working together. If Germany and Italy hadn't given me cover I surely would have.

Austria bs Italy.
Ive been trying a strategy when I get Austria to surprise attack Italy off the bat. Ive mostly failed. Does anyone know of good results where Austria takes on Italy and succeeds in the first few years or is it always better to just go east and hope for a friendly Italy?

so you've all been waiting for them. i downloaded the 22 pages of live gunboat wta games on the standard map from jan+feb. and i ran them. these are the top 31 users. would have done top-30 but i recognized the name santosh. not sure if there's a bug in the code cause i don't think 2ndwhiteline should be in the top-100.

In-Game Notes possibility?
Hey. Is there any chance that a notes function could be added to games? I think it would help some of us that don't generally write out elaborate EoG's to have the ability to include something, even if it is just terse notes like:

Russia didn't get bounced in Sweden in '01, what was Germany thinking?
