Springing Forward
Daylight Savings Time starts tonight for most of us in the United States, Canada, and several Caribbean island nations. This isn't the same date as for most other participating countries; consequently, this meant we all had to change our time zones manually when I last was on this site a few years ago.

Remember to Spring Forward if it applies to you, and remember to double-check your clocks on the webDiplomacy website after you do it.

Patton vs Lee
An interesting contest. Which General was better does the community think? Overall, for they both had their specifics where they would win.

My apologies to the players of "two?" gameID=82846
I'm writing to apologize to the players of game "two?" (http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=82846) for abandoning the game. An emergency came up and I had to leave. I understand me leaving threw the game off balance for everyone and for that I am sorry. I hope I get a chance to play you guys again in the future.

Sincerely,
-nnfolz (Germany)

United Auto Workers bailed out by Obama
Why did Americans who don't work at General Motors, about 99.9% of the population, waste hundreds of billions bailing out GM? Obama's dependence on union money of course. Our reward
Production of the Chevy Volt halted and 1,300 jobs lost.

Random Person to Post Wins
We all know that the concept of "Last Person to Post Wins" is deeply flawed – it encourages excessive posting which is similar to bidding wars; only except of money, one constantly invests his free time to stay on top which favours the trolls the most, since they have no life and therefore plenty of free time. Random Person to Post Wins alleviates the situation of those who wish to win but can't bother trying. Enjoy.

Looking for a replacement England
England just left a surprisingly solid position in this game: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=81140

It's Autumn retreats, so England will have two builds and a total of six units before there's any new action.

Government "aid" to the poor, a success or disaster?
Socialists, statists, liberals and the like consistently, constantly, and incessantly claim that government administered aid is the "only" solution for poverty and uplifting the poor. Where is the real evidence of this success? The youth riots in Britain provide evidence of its failure.

America's Deficit and Budget Cuts
I haven't been on Webdiplo in about 6 months, but I thought this would be a good place to ask the question:

What can we do to stop the growing problem of federal debt in America? What can be cut?

NMR/CD First Year Automatic Cancelling
Has anyone considered adding this option? It makes sense that if someone misses both of their first year's moves, that the game is imbalanced. Would allowing a setting to cancel the game if someone goes CD by the end of the first year be feasible?

How can someone like me have money? My parents divorced and I grew up in poverty in a one-parent family. I'm obviously not bright. I only achieved a BA using benefits I earned serving in the US Army? How come a brilliant lad like Thucy doesn't have money and I do?

Government should regulate WebDip's Website
Following the logic that braindead socialists post on this site all the time about how government knows best then lets put their insane ideas to the test.
If government can run my health care better than I can then surely government could run Webdip better with one hand behind its back than the mods do.

We are going to have to start paying for WebDip.
Someone has to pay the wages, pensions, and benefits of the government workers regulating the site.

Any points of 1000 will be taxed at the rate of 90% and returned to the point pool.

I think your a little off base TC. I think most people want socialized health care, not because they really love rules and regulations and absurd forbiddence like raw milk or pot, I think its because they want the government to pay for it. Maybe they could afford if US didnt do half the globes military spending.

Web dip wants to initiate a food stamp program for the impoverished players on the site with less than 100 pts that will be paid for by a special tax on all players with over 1000 pts.

franzjosefi (1291 D)

We don't need to do that since WebDip just starts up the printing press and prints additional points to give to any player with less than 100. That is what stifles competition on the board and devalues our point system.

first may I congratulate a few players on some brilliant player names,

DonQuigleone, Bitemenow10 & Rommeltastic,
those are corkers.
My player name is the name of an Australian species of Cockatoo,
but is not nearly as imaginative as Rommeltastic
incidentally is "MM enterprise" a reference to me ???
apparently (according to TC ) I am incapable of making any money & am a COWARD

I think TC has been smoking his pot & it must be the "top gear" pot.

I love the attitude of the Canadians, when the USA had the prohibition of alchohol,
the Canadians quietly let (was it) Seagrams who had a distillery just across the
(is it) great lakes from Chicago make squillions supplying whisky to the US market.

Apparently the Canadians now produce a lot of pot in British Columbia that
finds it's way to US consumers.

I don't have a problem with adults consuming pot in the privacy of their own homes,
but to think that is the only use of pot is a Pollyanna view of the world.

I think far too many young persons do themselves a lot of damage consuming the
modern extremely strong pot whilst their brains are still maturing / developing.

I am an old fuddy duddy who can remember the LSD of the late 1960's and early 1970's and how young people without the skills to engage in
" psychological self deconstruction" really messed themselves up badly.

I would encourage TC to respond in his anti union thread to specific questions
and assertions I have made that are critical of his ideological propoganda and
desist from his exercises in cut & paste and dissembling ( when he can find a lucid
moment or two )

Webdip moderators could end multi-account problems if they would just take 90% of the points over 1,000 and give them to everyone with points under 1,000. Then they wouldn't have to cheat to get equality.
That's the way the theory works isn't it Putin/Santa Clause/Largeham/Yellowjacket and all the other mental midgets that are takers and not makers?

Is an ID on Webdip a person? Does an ID on Webdip have the same rights as a person? Webdip should publish a Bill of Rights to clarify the personhood of ID's.

In order to foster equal opportunity in diplomacy we are going to suspend the results based on points and institute a affirmative action program to declare winners.
The government has determined that Austria is discriminated against so Austria will be declared the winner of every other game until the government quota has been reached. The regulators of WebDip will also order point reparations payments from other countries to Austria in games Austria loses.
2ndWhiteLine (2601 D(B))
05 Mar 12 UTC
And first in line for those affirmative action points will be TC with his lowly GR of 900. Clearly, you would want this kind of distribution program, since it favors poor players, such as yourself, at my expense. But I'd be more than happy to send 10 or 20 D your way.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
09 Mar 12 UTC
The government regulators of WebDip need to end the high buy in games that separate the rich from the poor in the WebDip community.

What revolting elitism to put a gate of 500+ points around entry into diplomacy space that belongs to the community.

A tax policy scenario.
This thread assumes that the economy is not a zero-sum system, but instead assumes that the economy is a dynamic system capable of real growth.
Thus any assumed increase in wealth results from the output of productive activity, and does not diminish the wealth of anyone else at all.

Why can't Unions survive on their own?
Mitch Daniels signed right to work legislation and union workers protested.
We've had unions in this nation for well over a century.
We've seen the "workers" of the state run a government in the Soviet Union.
With all this historical evidence why can't unions survive without coercion?

My city's sports teams are worse than your city's sports teams.
So, after the Leafs miss the playoffs and the panthers make it. Toronto will hold the record for active playoff drought in the NHL. We sit 4th in the MLB and 6th in the NBA. Eat you heart out Cleveland. This is the worst sports city.

Threads in Webdip invariably derail. Case in point: This thread.
We have LGBT societies in many places (esp. universities) but we don't have Heterosexual Clubs. That is blatant sexual discrimination. Discuss.
