Actually, I'm not ALLOWED to tutor in the Offical Tutoring Center because...
I don't know.
Well, the actual reason is because I have no experience tutoring at AVC...
Which I don't have because they won't hire me...
And they won't hire me as long as I lack the experience on-campus...
But the only way to get that experience "officially" would be for them to hire me...
But it's the very FACT I don't have that experience they WON'T hire me...
And so and and so forth until everyone sees how circular and absurd that is (except the actual dimwits themselves, though, unfortunately enough.)
Even though I had THREE PROFESSORS, one a DOCTOR teaching HONORS SHAKESPEARE recommend me or request me for English tutoring, and a 3 other professors, ALL doctors--General Philosophy, Philosophy of Ethics, and Biology...with a side of Ethics--recommend me for General tutoring...
I'm not allowed to officially tutor via my school's tutoring center/service.
You figure out the logic there and then tell me it whilst I bang my head against the wall... :p
But I HAVE signed on for private tutoring with one of those six professors as soon as he has kids struggling--he teaches, among other works, "Hamlet," so you can iomagine who's first on the list to tutor folks with THAT particular work--as did a couple of his other good students who also can't get hired for the same reason as me...
And that's about the extent of it, private ads over campus didn't work, and trying to get referred via the Hiring Center got me a lady who didn't want me to tutor her in English--though Portugese was her first language--but rather wanted me to proofread and edit a manscript she'd written...which was a "book"--and I use the term loosely--about John Lennon's assasination fictionalized...and how much of a bitch Yoko was...and how great Ann Pang was...and how much of a bitch Yoko was...and how apparently she'd been a Beatles fan since the start...and how much of a bitch Yoko was (seriously, EVERY OTHER SENTENCE or so was some shot at Yoko, FOR 70+ PAGES.)
And I said fine, I'm game, I'll do anything at this point, send me the full manuscript so I cna get to work.
"No," she says, "just tell me what you think first, I have a deadline of submission."
"I understand that, hence my reason for needing to see your ACTUAL TEXT, so I can tell you what I think."
"No, no, just tell me what you think, I sent you part..."
"You sent me the first 8 pages or so of a 70-150 page book, depending on how much of this is kept, and that was hard enough to read with all the grammatical errors, and I can't tell you what these pages even MEAN since a third of it's incomprehensible without knowing where this is going at all, a third is incomprehensible even WITH that knowledge due to grammar issues, and a third is pissing all over Yoko Ono."
"I have a deadline, you must tell me what you think and fix the text's errors."
"I KNOW, but I can't do that without the actual TEXT, and anyway, you ahven't payed me for the first two weeks of this anyway."
And so on until her deadline passed, I failed to fix her text--which is hard to do WHEN SHE WON'T GIVE ME THE TEXT, SORT OF LIKE FIXING A TIRE WITHOUT THE TIRE PRESENT, IT'S A VITAL COMPONENT TO THE PROCESS--and I didn't see a cent for that, even though she was supposed to pay up front.
