Thucydides: Yes, I've been listening to classical music for about eleven years. I discovered it when I was ten and I haven't looked back since.

I don't believe that any of the pieces I named are bad pieces, unworthy of being widely known. I just find that they no longer stimulate my mind. They've lost the freshness that once made them so appealing.

For now? I absolutely love Janacek, Shostakovich, Debussy, Vaughan Williams, Bax, and Barber. Lately I've found Schubert fascinating, too, and I'm not sure why. Beethoven's chamber works still seem VERY fresh to me, so I still know he's a musical genius :)

While I agree on movie remakes being bad in general, Thomas Crown Affair is much better for the new script. Strong woman (Russo) vs Manipulative woman (Dunaway) -- the guys, whatever, their interchangeable.

Now if you want to talk baaad remake let's go with the recent Wicker Man (Cage). Saw it at a free preview and I STILL WANT MY TIME BACK. Having said that, Hot Fuzz is the perfect homage to the Wicker Man, though the original has the creep factor.

Cage's Wicker Man was the first movie I ever walked out of. It sucked the life out of me every second I watched it. Hot Fuzz, however, is great fun and Simon Pegg is simply outstanding as the hot shot cop who gets sent to a sleepy little town cause he is making everyone else in the busy metropolis look like the incompetent donut eaters they were.

@cteno - I'm sorry you find Mozart boring. He is my favorite composer followed closely by Bernstein, Copland, and Barber. If all you are hearing is the stuff that gets all the airplay on the classical stations, then go to the library and check out some lesser known Mozart or go watch a live production of Don Giovanni, Le Nozze di Figaro, or Die Zauberflote. I am so sick of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik that I could puke, but some of his small ensemble pieces and his lesser known wind concertos are absolutely fantastic.
