Not finding the written out rules in the FAQ or Rulebook section of the site. My impression was missing two phases opened the country for a replacement. Germany in gameID=137674 has missed a diplomacy and retreat phase but is still in the game. Does it have to be 2 diplomacy phases?

Why No Press is Best
Seems like most games are no-message games. But isn't the core of Diplomacy the diplomacy between people and that the moves are just the outcome of that?

I'm not saying No Press is *Not* Best. Just trying to understand why it seems to have more appeal these days.

Online payment systems for people under 18 (or other ages in some countries perhaps)
I want to receive money from someone who wants to send it via PayPal, but PayPal is 18+ in my country while I'm 16 years old. I'm already working on online banking, but apparently sending the money to a bank account is a problem, so I need some other account to receive the money on. My parents could receive the money and send it to me I suppose, but since I plan on making this general practice, I'd rather not do that.
Idea's?

I love how the Fed's have cordoned off a small area and label it the "First Amendment Zone". Apparently your constitutional rights are now confined to small, taped-off areas by mandate of the Tyrant's local representative.

Whoever implied it was random Americans? I didn't even say Bundy (the rancher) is without guilt. If you think Bundy is guilty of a Federal crime, then arrest him. Wait until he comes into town for a gallon of milk, and grab him. But lining up the snipers, tasering people taking video outside the "First Amendment zone", etc...this is really acceptable behavior to you?

If so...god help this country...and thank god the militia is on it's way.

Oh I know...Democrats can never do wrong in your eyes. Got it.

Running guns to Mexico (Fat and Furious) is A-OK.

Letting your cattle graze where they have grazed for 150 years as part of the family ranch because some god damned turtle lives there -- federal crime worthy of an armed siege. (By the way, if that fucking turtle is endanger, let it DIE. but oddly enough it has lasted 150 years in this place while cattle grazed there. SUDDENLY it's endangered by the cattle? And you idiots believe this????)

You Libtards are fucked up, man, seriously.

@ krellin

First, *Americans*, not *American's*

Second, this news is even scarier when you look at how much ammunition DHS has purchased lately. I fear that more incidents like Ruby Ridge will happen in the future. The federal government is completely out of control.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
10 Apr 14 UTC
The only thing scarier than the feds is the feds with billions of rounds of hollowpoint ammunition and rules of engagement that allow them to use it.

How else do you expect them to put down peasant rebellions like this one?
Tolstoy (1962 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
"Of the 52 ranchers in his section of Nevada, Cliven Bundy is the only one who has refused to go back to the reservation. So the heirs to Sherman and Sheridan have mobilized an army to protect hired thieves who have come to steal the Bundy family’s cattle with the ultimate purpose of driving him from the land.

Their objective is not to protect the desert tortoise, but to punish a defiant property owner and entrepreneur. This potentially murderous aggression is being celebrated by Progressives as a worthy effort to make dangerous radicals “feel the superior power of the Government.”

For more than two decades, Bundy has defied the federal land management bureaucracy, and his continued resistance could catalyze a general revolt against their designs for the western United States.

Their intent, as described by Pendley, is to transform the West into “a land nearly devoid of people and economic activity, a land devoted almost entirely to the preservation of scenery and wildlife habitat. In their vision, everything from the 100th meridian to the Cascade Range becomes a vast park through which they might drive, drinking their Perrier and munching their organic chips, staying occasionally in the bed-and-breakfast operations into which the homes of Westerners have been turned, with those Westerners who remain fluffing duvets and pouring cappuccino.”

The high priests of biocentrism and their bureaucratic allies aren’t going to let a handful of ragged but resolute ranchers “check and stop the progress” of Manifest Destiny. "

http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-cliven-bundy-standoff-wounded-knee.html

Excellent write-up of the wider issues involved in this situation.
krellin (80 DX)
11 Apr 14 UTC
If his family has been grazing cattle on this land since 1870, I think it's a pretty decent assumption that any endangered tortoise ain't 'cause of the cows...so that tortoise argument is bullshit on any number of grounds.

But first and foremost...the idea that the Feds can come in and just say, "Oh...hey...this land that you family has been using for agricultural purposes for over a century....yeah, we are taking your rights to it away, and we are not going to compensate you for your loss. IN fact, you owe us..."

At one point in time (starting in 1870) I'm assuming they didn't have to pay their sin tax for raising delicious cow flesh. Too bad they didn't stick a gun in the tax collector's face a long time ago....

Tolstoy (1962 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
"Too bad they didn't stick a gun in the tax collector's face a long time ago...."

I agree, but this would've made them an "anti-government militia terrorist" in the minds of many in the past and would've led to their extermination, as it has to others (see "Donald Scott", among others). I think the climate is finally right now, with discontent towards the government approaching appropriate levels, for this sort of rebellion to be practical.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
I have faith in western ranchers. Hell, if Afghan hillbillies with 40-year-old Soviet rifles can hold off our nation's finest, it stands to reason that pissed-off ranchers with the best hardware money can buy are capable of holding off DHS stooges.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
11 Apr 14 UTC

Can someone give me a basic rundown? So far, just from these posts, is it basically that the government passed some arbitrary ruling that "protects" some tortoise that probably isn't endangered against cows that a guy is grazing on land his family has used for a hundred years, and now the feds are going to go all stormtrooper on him. Correct?
Tolstoy (1962 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
Chaqa, you more or less have it down.

Basically, the Bundy clan has had grazing rights on the land in question since the 19th century. In the 1990s, the BLM (which didn't even exist when the Bundy's had been grazing their cattle on the land in question for more than half a century) arbitrarily decided to raise the grazing fees to punitive levels, and they were using the money they were raising from the increased fees to put the ranchers out of business through legal wranglings and arbitrary revocations of longstanding grazing claims in the name of protecting a species of desert tortoise. The Bundies refused to play along (as the other ranchers in the area - all out of business now - did) and simply ignored the BLM, continued to graze their cattle, while the BLM racked up tons of "fees" and "penalties" on them for doing so. Now the BLM is going in for the kill, aiming to break the Bundy clan and drive them off the land that they've been using and maintaining for almost a century and a half. There are a number of conspiracy theories to explain why the BLM/Federal Government is doing this (since no one believes they actually care about desert tortoises); the two most popular being that they want to drive the humans out of the southwest in the name of Ecofascism, and the second is that the Bundy grazing land is on top of some rich petroleum deposits that the federales want to hand over to Big Oil for fracking.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
11 Apr 14 UTC
The latter, Tolstoy.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
11 Apr 14 UTC
Just looked it up - the ranch is on a shale the BLM has been targeting for years. They will take it either by court order or force, apparently the latter here, and lease the land to fracking companies, who they take in many millions from a year already.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))

I don't buy some eco-nazi conspiracy, because it implies people actually giving a damn. But an oil thing I could buy.
krellin (80 DX)
11 Apr 14 UTC
"I don't buy some eco-nazi conspiracy, because it implies people actually giving a damn. Don’t be so quick to dismiss eco-nazis. The EPA is full to the brim with them, and when they can not get a law passed, they simply regulate away things they don’t like, or make things so costly that people can’t do them.

In Michigan, in the thumb, there is a beach “resort” town that a few years back the federal eco-nazis came in and said they could no longer rake the muck out of the beach to keep it clean for swimmers, because it’s a wetlands or whatever the fuck they decided. No…it was a beach. It had been a beach for decades – i.e. no indigenous life doing much living in this stretch of sand. Now…now the federal eco-nazis have turned it to seaweed filled shitwater. Or at least it was for a couple years. I believe they have now gone back to keeping it clean….but the point is, if you don’t think federal eco-nazies can swoop in and fuck up your shit, you have no idea what is going on in this country.
Mapu (362 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
So they wouldn't let people clean the beach and then they did let them clean the beach. Sounds like a very serious threat to people everywhere. Go jerk off into your tin foil hat.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
11 Apr 14 UTC
Krellin, the EPA is nowhere near eco-nazi. I know people that *are* eco-nazis and the EPA doesn't do anything close to what the extreme environmentalist goes for. Also, if you really think big oil isn't just as involved in the EPA as environmentalist philosophy (which, being the Environmental Protection Agency, seems counterproductive), you're just skipping over the parts of the EPA so that you can criticize them unfairly.

If you want eco-nazis, let me know, I'll introduce you to a few.
krellin (80 DX)
11 Apr 14 UTC
Mapu - you, as always, are too incredibly stupid to even grasp this concept aren't you. This is a beach...with all the emenities of a beach - public changing rooms, snack stand, camping area, all focused specifically on THE BEACH...where people go swimming, and have for **decades**.

How you don't find it at all disconcerting that a BEACH can suddenly be turned into a fragile environmental zone such that the Federal governement can come in and take a communities PRIMARY source of income -- beach tourism -- and tell them to fuck off, they can't maintain their beach under threat of committing a Federal -- just demonstrates what a true fucking sheep you are.

That the community took a couple of *years* to fight back and finally convince someone that the fucking mile long stretch of SAND wasn't the habitat of ANY endangered species doesn't at all indicate anything...Bottom line is still the bottom line - the Federal government is out of control, and fucking sheeple moron fucktards like you are the reason why.

You really are a moron, aren't you? I'll bet you even own an Obama dildo, don't you?
krellin (80 DX)
11 Apr 14 UTC
It wasnt' the EPA that did this to the beach, but the EPA is **full to the brim** of eco-nazis.

That you don't know this, that you don't know anything about EPA actions over the past 6 years is just indicative of your lack of education/lack of knowledge/lack of attention to the government that controls you.
krellin (80 DX)
11 Apr 14 UTC
For example...the EPA...these are the goons that want to regulate COW FLATULENCE....

Enough said....
Mapu (362 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
Methane gas is worse for the environment than all of the cars, buses, trucks and planes combined. You are the ignorant troll who twists little "facts" to suit your paranoia.
Mapu (362 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
Keep Googling your paranoia sites for a comeback, douche.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
11 Apr 14 UTC
Methane gas is arguably the worst substance for the situation the planet in general is in right now. Regulating cow flatulence is a silly thought if they don't actually have a way to do that but it's not stupid.
krellin (80 DX)
11 Apr 14 UTC
(+1)
No. It's stupid. It is mind-numbingly stupid. and if you think it is a reasonable thing for the government to come in and try to regulate fucking cow farts, then you two are far stupider than I have ever given you credit for being.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
11 Apr 14 UTC
There is a distinct difference between trying to "regulate cow farts" and trying to "regulate cow feed."
krellin (80 DX)
11 Apr 14 UTC
"You are the ignorant troll who twists little "facts" to suit your paranoia. "

"Twists " facts? lol surely you jest, moron. A fact is a fact, period. What fact have I twisted in metioning the EPA-nazies coming after your cow farts?

lol Good lord, go play with your obama dildo and leave the adults to talk.
krellin (80 DX)
11 Apr 14 UTC
(+1)
bo - it's none of the fucking business of the EPA what I feed my cows. Period. end of story.

But your childish mindset that the government knows best...that's what's driving this country into the ground....but, you've been groomed to be a governemnt sheep from birth, so I guess I don't blame you.

The irony is that you are smart enough on any given day to distrust the government...and then you will come back the next day and say, "Oh, no, the government is 100% correct and competent on THIS issues...." Good little sheep, you are...
Mapu (362 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
Krellin again resorts to taking a play out of the Sarah Palin playbook and renaming something it's not to appeal to the dumb.
krellin (80 DX)
11 Apr 14 UTC
Mapu again resorts to blind loyalty, fueled by ignorance, to defend anything the government does, and deflecting from the issues at hand.

Bahhhhh.....good little sheep, mapu. Obama is so proud of you.

It's too bad you haven't actually had a single intelligent thing to say in discussing the topics presented, but rather, in typical Libtard fashion, you are just another mindless attack dog. <yawn...> But it's fully expected and predictable from the likes of you, little dance monkey.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
11 Apr 14 UTC
Mapu, why should the government be involved? I mean seriously, next thing they'll be regulating what kind of toothpaste I can use and what color shoes I can wear.
Mapu (362 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
Most others here have learned to avoid you and your paranoid ignorance. It's my own fault for engaging with you.
Mapu (362 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
Chaqa, oh the old slippery slope argument. Also a good fallback for everything.
Mapu (362 D)
11 Apr 14 UTC
I should disclose that the cow one is probably a bad one to argue with me about because for me it has nothing to do with the government. I am a firm believer in the rights of all animals, not just cats and dogs, and so I have strong objection to any raising/slaughtering of livestock. So if the government wants to make it harder for them with methane laws, I am all for it.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
11 Apr 14 UTC
(+1)
Oh man, you're one of them.

Anyway, maybe it's a slippery slope, but the slope is damn slippery in truth. A hundred years ago there was little regulation. Fifty years ago, some. Now, it's getting out of hand. We have to use those shitty fluorescent light bulbs that are poisonous if broken and give people headaches because the incandescent light bulbs are "bad for the environment"... please.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
13 Apr 14 UTC
@ Chaqa

Yeah, but there's a difference between banning incandescent lightbulbs and sending hundreds of heavily armed federal agents to protect a turtle at a rancher's expense even though the turtle probably isn't even endangered.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
13 Apr 14 UTC
It just shows how far either A) the eco-fascists or B) the plain old fascists are willing to go to get what they want.
