Does anyone else love that this site has not changed its look in like eight years?
Because I actually seriously love that about it. Nothing else in my life on the internet still looks like it did then, and it looks fine.

Surrender option
I am thinking that having a surrender option (to your attacker, or one of your allies that you border) might add a very nice twist to the game. Often we see people give up, but giving them a chance to surrender their territories would take diplomacy to another level, where you could negotiate with someone, give him your armies, and watch your enemy deal with a much bigger force. Thoughts?

@Yellowjacket (and pretty much everyone else).

So you want Jesus to show you himself? You want God to give you a sign of his existence? I don't blame you. It would be absurd for a god of supposed infinite intelligence, wisdom, and love to expect humans to belive in him via blind "faith." It would be even more absurd of him to hold their unbelief against them; when he hasn't shown any proof of himself in the first place. He might as well eternally condemn them for not thinking that giant pink, fluffy, talking unicorns existed. Religion that doesn't offer any evidence of its truth is of the same value as common superstition.

But you're in luck. Christianity is more than just a pile of worthless myths. God has given us clear evidence of his existence by showing himself through the Bible and through Jesus Christ. You don't have to renounce any common sense or intelligence to embrace Christianity; in fact I'd argue that TRUE Christianity is the greatest intellectual system that humanity has ever grasped. Unfortunately, the real truths of Christianity have been so oversimplified, trivialized, and sugarcoated, that at this point what I'm saying sounds like utter nonsense to the average intelligent Westerner.

But bear with me. I hope to show you that what I say is true. Please hear me out with as open of a mind as you can muster. Just consider for a moment that I could be right. If I am, then you could have a personal relationship with the creator of the universe. If I am, then you could have a more joyful, hopeful, and fulfilling life than you ever thought possible. If I am, then you could be assured of an eternity in blissful paradise. And if I'm wrong, then you've lost merely a couple minutes of your life. The cost-benifit ratio is rather good isn't it?

I am here to guide you; just as others have been there to help guide me. I will try to teach you what Christianity really is, to show you the evidence for it, and to answer any questions you may have. (For how does one learn anything unless they are taught?) My goal is to write one big article a day and several smaller ones replying to your comments. Please be patient with me as I am a full-time student and my life is fairly busy.

All I do, I do because I care about you. I may not know you, (or always like the person whom I do know), but I still care about your eternal destination. If I didn't, I'd just keep my mouth shut and leave you to your own devices. But I won't, for how easily could I have been born in your shoes with no idea of the truth? It's probably only because my parents and the grace of God that I'm even still breathing today. I don't want to think of the kind of man I'd be if they hadn't raised me to know God. He is a God of abounding love, grace, and mercy who is truely worthy of all praise. It is my utmost desire for you to know him as I do.

Thanks for reading; I look forward to hearing from you.

Blech, didn't realize how much I toned that down. Was a tad more preachy than I intended. I'll make sure the next post contains more of the sarcasm and cynicism we're all comfortable with...

To be honest, I truly can't tell if this is snark.

Well thank you, slyguy, but does this REALLY need another thread? I feel like I'm being obnoxious enough making the one I did, and only did because I thought both Christians (once they realized I wasn't just bullshitting) and nonbelievers might find it somewhat interesting. Now that responses are dying off I'm not so sure, but I'd be glad to have you contribute your thoughts directly to my thread.

Beer is often made by monks, so I think it counts.
"But bear with me. I hope to show you that what I say is true. Please hear me out with as open of a mind as you can muster. Just consider for a moment that I could be right. This sounds like a regurgitation of Pascal's Wager, which Pascal himself rebuked later on in his life. It raises too many questions that cannot be answered, such as: Wouldn't God know we were doing it "just in case" and that our belief was not genuine? What if there is a god who rewards us for not believing in your god? Following Christianity requires that we adhere to a set of strict rules, which can interfere with our personal lives. If your god does not exist, then how can you say we have nothing to lose? Our entire lives would be wasted. And so on.

Now, I do not totally reject the possibility of there being a god. I just refuse to devote my entire life to one in specific, as the odds of picking the right one (if such a thing even exists) are certainly against me. Besides, far too many assumptions must be made before arriving at the conclusion that your particular god, or any other god for that matter, exists.

I was merely stating that you should hear me out; not stating that you should follow a religion you don't believe in.

@Yellowjacket
Ok, I might move over to your thread.

Slyguy was a juvenile gamer alias of mine that I'd rather not have here. Not sure what you're implying there...

Slyguy - I am giogn to take issue with one thing you said, in that God reveals Himself through the Bible and Jesus Christ. Book of Romans, for example, also says that no man is without excuse because creation itself bears witness to God. So God *did* say "don't just look at this book, dummy...there's a whole freaking UNIVERSE that I created for you if you are looking for proof!"

@YJ -- PLEASE do continue your other thread. I find it intriguing, whether or not it is brilliant parody or the documentary of a true spiritual journey.

I dont' expect yoru journey to be two weeks and out. I don't expect your journey requires the daily badgering of WebDipoholics, either. But please do keep us up to date, one way or the other; whether you have an epiphany and come to some undersandign with God, or throw in the robes and be done with it - either way I'm interested in your thoughts.

I *do* hopeyou continue to take time to read the bible, as I think you said you never have, and whether or not you believe, by reading it you will at least be able to speak more intelligently about it, and understand what/why people believe if you return to athiest/agnosticism.
@Slyguy: Thanks for ignoring all the points I made.

@ Krellin: "there's a whole freaking UNIVERSE that I created for you if you are looking for proof!"

I challenge you to explain how the existence of the universe proves the existence of God, without:

- using any words in ALL CAPS,
- making a creationist argument,
- referring to anyone by a term ending in "-tard".

Playing with people I know
I have read the rules that state that you must not enter a game with any pre-made alliances (metagaming). I'd like to host a game with people I know but we don't have enough players to make a full game. Instead I'm considering allowing the empty spaces to be filled by people we don't know.

Even if we play like we don't know each other are we likely to be accused of cheating and therefore is this not worth bothering with unless I have 7 people to make a private game?

Who's the Bard of WebDip? The Favorite Author Tournament!
List your 4 favorite authors below (if one of your four has already been picked, choose another.) Once we have at least 16 authors (or more, if we get more interest) we'll line them up, the first author chosen vs. the last one posted (so, yeah, Shakespeare vs. whoever the last guy/gal is, lol), and then the second vs. the second to last, etc. in +1 spinoff threads (so, yeah, Shakespeare vs. Challenger X/Y). :p Highest total after 24 hours moves on...repeat until we choose the Bard of WebDip!
