Now, I *know* in extreme cases the mods have intervened. The mods are here to keep the games fair and running smooth and one of the rules is to keep the server fun for everyone, or something to that effect. Acting like a douche and grabbing a win off a *huge* CD is hardly keeping the server fun.

Sorry for not seeing these requests until now, I have had even more electricity problems than usual, and was away this weekend in Saint Louis - no internet there at all.

In general yes we do encourage the attempted to recruitment of other players before we will intervene, and we usually only intervene if it's some kind of tournament game. At least for me. We have all experienced the game being tipped because of a CD. Unfortunately it's part of the fabric of internet diplomacy - the possibility is always there and if you play you need to accept that it's a risk - your ally could CD at any time, or whatever. The best you can do is try to recruit another person fast, or petition for a pause or cancel from your fellow players and as a LAST resort in very extreme cases which appear cheating related or tournament related especially, contact us.

Oh, and I have no problem with an honest loss. I have no problem dealing with some lost SCs due to a CD by a nearly out of it nation. I just have a problem with a CD by the #3 nation who has the #1 nation at his back with wide opne SCs giving the game to the #1 nation in one year's time. That is a win without honor. I would never accept a win like that (and fortknox previously backed up that I wouldn't) and I think any player with any self-respect would not do so. Anyone who does is more interested in the win than having a fun and fair game. Just my opinion.

I'm with Draugnar in this one. I'm in a game where a player seems to be dragging a stalemated position and not voting draw, probably hoping someone will screw up their moves and hand him the win. It's very annoying. Fortunately, I have already contacted the mods and received a kind and acceptable response. I guess it's almost over now.
