More noob questions
Just curious, when I'm at the "Home" page, some of the games I'm in have stars next to them like the stars that show up in threads you have posted in. What are these stars symbolizing?

The "Oh, Come On, It Wasn't THAT Bad," Screen and Stage Countdown
We've all seen it ...that disease known only as "fanboyitis" (or, since I suppose our diseases have to be politically correct nowadays, it's sister disease that's toally equal and in no way lesser than fanboyitis, fangirlitis.) A movie, play, book, or or show comes out- and it's great. The sequels come out- "Oh my God, those evil demons ruined EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING!!!" So sound off on The "Oh, Come On, It Wasn't THAT Bad" books, shows, films, and, yes, plays.

¡Viva España!

DJEcc24: The damn Netherlands got 9 yellow cards! Only one of these turnned into a red card. They knew they couldn't win playing leagally, so they just tried to stop Spain from being able to play. Spain got 5, which is a disgrace on the part of the referee. In Spain's other 6 games, it got a total of just three cards. Spain won the Fair Play Award anyway, at least.

@Thucydides - I've noticed my 4-year old nephew haд the tendency to repeat himself numerous times when he wantед something. Oh, he also had a period when he was really proud of what he'd done (poop in a pot) and was really keen on making sure everyone has seen it. Just saying...

Spaniards, congratulations. As we Dutch sing in our national anthem: 'De koning van Espanje heb ik altijd geëerd' (I have always honored the king of Spain). You've won fair and square, we agree too, as Van Marwijk said: 'the better team has won'. But it's bitter, and it would be bitter for you too would Robben have lobbed the ball over Casillas... anyway, don't defend this referee too much please. Some actions of the Dutch team definitely deserved a yellow or even a red card, but mister Webb was constantly holding up the game, whistling for every possible slight - and when it really mattered he didn't see it...
Octavious (2701 D)

@ Mapleleaf

They usually run towards the fans, who are the reason they are playing. Makes sense, no?

In defense of old Webb I would say that if he'd stuck firmly to the rule book and been a good all seeing ref one or two of the Dutch players would have been sent off early on and it would have been among the most boring and one-sided world cup finals in history. As it was the last hour or so was highly entertaining, and Webb should be given some credit for that.

Webb made some mistakes last night, as all refs do from time to time especially at world cups, but he did keep the game alive. Spain played some decent football and were worthy winners. The Dutch team tried to destroy the game and were a disgrace to the ideals of football which they once used to personify. Once they would lose important games playing great football and were loved for it. Now they have lost an important game playing like scum and will be despised for it.

@Thucy - I got it - decided to respond in kind :P

@Octavious - while I do agree with your overall assessment, I think Webb should have handled it different. He clearly wanted (was under instructions?) to avoid sending people off too early - the players knew it and took full advantage. Van Bommel or De Jong (probably both) should have been sent off midway through the first half and that would have made it rather clear.

He effectively let them go unchecked and invited such behavior. If the referee has an agenda different to actually refereeing as per the rules... then he's not really doing a good job.

Having said this - it was one hell of a game to try and manage - the Dutch came out with the idea to kick Spain out of the game and the Spanish responded with moaning, diving and cheating themselves. There's a certain irony in the fact that when the red card came it was for a semi-dive by Iniesta.

Ugly game - but the better team won.

I wasn't particularly rooting for either side, I was rooting for an entertaining game. I think my side lost. =P

I have to blame the ref for way too many cards and stoppages. It was free kicks every which way. It was not fun to watch. Funny that the red card finally came off of what looked to me like a dive. He should have at least ended it with a headbutt.
