They are not.

They are calculated in batch monthly, plus I think they are closely monitored by TGM because weird things have happened before. It's not something as simple as adding up points and getting a number. So the request is probably more complex than you may think, since it isn't integrated into the game at all...

I dunno... I had a bad month in sept (and in oct, unfortunately), but that doesn't mean I am bad overall. It may be a bit leading.

Regardless, I just put'm all, pick whichever you want to judge me by.

Maybe there should also be best mover and worst mover for each individual player in ghost rankings. I know I had a great mover of 6000 places or so last month. Don't know if it'll take a lot of work to implement, though.

I havn't been here long enough to get a rating yet. Well the new ratings aren't out yet...

I think this system has to be formalised. I'm not going to advertise that I'm highly ranked lest I get gang beaten.

I suppose that is a legitimate concern. Hopefully, though, you'd be playing with people at a similar skill level as you, so this wouldn't be an issue.

Furthermore, I'm not sure I understand the mentality of ganging up on the "best" player. I always try to ally with them. They are less likely to stab you for no reason, and if everyone else is working against them, they'll appreciate the support.

Excuse my overwhelming ignorance, but could someone please tell me what Ghost Ranking actually IS.....??

It is an alternative rating system to points that I developed and maintain.

It is designed to be a more accurate indicator of skill than points.

This is something i suggested a while ago. I think its a great idea and if the actual rating is accompanied with the number of places you have increased/ decreased it would make it an even better indication of a players position. A green arrow (pointing up) for a move up and red one (pointing down) for movng down would be sublime. Im sure it would be a ball ache of a job, but is another step to making this site even better.

Im still plumping for the choice of having a 'country of origin' flag next to a players name as well :)

To reiterate, for the time being, I think it'd be worth it if everyone just put their own rating in the comments. It's really easy to check yours once and put it in the comments, but really annoying to try to check for a whole game.
