can you retreat via convoy?

Like if I'm attacked in London, and I have no territories in England, but I have territories in france, and a fleet in the english channel. Will my unit be retreated to brest for example (which btw contains no units), or will my unit be destroyed if beaten in an attack?

How to unpause a Paused game?

League replacement wanted

Group A has suffered a civil disorder. If anyone wants to take over this player, they should email me to arrange it (my email is in my profile).
There is another game to start also, so there is a chance of getting an improved position in next season, if you want to join the leagues.

If I want to hold all my units in a game but not CD what do I have to do?

This is not related to my current game; I'm just curious. Without finalising will my hold move(s) not count as CD if I go to the game and do I have to update?

Sunday Morning Log Jam

It is Sunday 6AM in California and the site is really really slow with 2 or so 404 errors.
I wonder if it is a peak time that does it or something else? Any one else have the same problem?

Can I force an army of myself to move out?

Hello everyone! Quick question regarding the rules:
If say I have an army in Munich that I move to Burgund. France has an army in Paris that moves to Burgund too so neither gets in.
Now if I also play army Kiel to Munich supported by army Berlin what happens to my army Munich? Is it forced out of Munich and has to retreat in some open territory?

Which units get disbanded first?

If no orders are submitted, which units get automatically disbanded? My recollection of the rules was that it was the unit furthest away, where more than 1 equally distant then fleets before armies and in alphabetical order. However, the auto disbands I see follow a different pattern, does anyone know what it is?

The rule book rules are
farthest from a home supply center ((owned or not owned))
fleets before armies
then alphabetical

House rules around the web and Face to Face events vary with a common usage being what did not get into to the last rule book by accident which was:
First units not in a supply center
Second units furthest (by direct space count not move count)from an owned supply center
Fleets before armies
then alphabetical.

However various web sites using code have some different issues.
I believe that here there was a change in the summer but that could have been a 'bug fix' and I am a little unsure of the exact course of action here.

The unit furthest from a home supply center is always disbanded first, but the definition of "furthest" is trickier. It's the number of spaces which a unit has to move through to get back to the home supply center, armies can move over both sea and land but fleets can only move in sea and coasts. (So for Germany a fleet in the Adriatic Sea will be destroyed before an army in Syria)

If they're matched then it comes down to alphabetical order, and all this was decided in the DATC

In "Let it Burn" Autumn '07 retreats, a Civil Disorder Russian army in Bulgaria was disbanded before a fleet in Skag. This did not appear to follow the rules.

Ska->Nor->Stp = 2 moves (fleet)
Bul->Rum->Seva = 2 moves (army)

Kestas, are you sure this is implemented the correct way round?

Ignore all that. They were both fleets. And I hadn't seen the short route to a home center through Norway.

That does make a little more sense, i must say that although I consulted the map myself I didn't think to check the unit types.

Edi, you said that location on or off an SC was important in the current rules - I would agree that this would be a good addition to the system, although I feel it should go after distance, and thus before alphabetical order.

The reason I asked was that in Facebook game 4188 that I'm in, Turkey probably didn't submit a disband order (I say probably as the clocks are in hours and it is possible that rounding makes me wrong) and yet Tyrolia disbanded before Black Sea. I've seen other instances where distant fleets are not disbanded before but put it down to different rules around disbanding. If someone could confirm that Austria submitted an order it would explain this otherwise we seem to have a bug. I'm guessing that phpdiplomacy.net is the same software as on Facebook (I posted here as it seems to have a more experienced set of players).

What I said is that the CURRENT rule book makes no distinction of being in or out of a supply center.

What was SUPPOSE to be in the rules would have changed it but there was a screw up between the editorial group and the printing group and the old rules were left in place.

The idea was to ignore the concept of home centers and just concentrate on OWNED centers and to use direct movement regardless of unit type. So for an army in Portugal the distance to London is 2 (Mid-Eng) for a fleet in
Adr the distance to Warsaw is 3 eventhough a fleet could never reach War.

Need Admin Help!

The game 'TAG Diplomacy game #2' has run afoul of bad feelings between all of the players. Rather than have the situation continue to degrade, I am hoping that there is a way to 'cancel' the game. I am the one who initiated the game.
Can anyone help?
