How to find the old posts?
I was wondering if we could read some old posts. It seems there are only a small part of the posts viewable in the Forum. Where are those disappeared ones?

Anyone could help? Thanks!

Kestas Help. Site is hung at the "Due now" stage.
Currently there are no games with "end of phase:" of 18 thru 24 hours.

Looks like the site stopped advancing out of the "Due now" stage 6 to 7 hours ago.

Kestas Help again. I count 10 of 158 games in "due now" stage. None in 23 hours or 24 hours.

2 of the games I'm in are in "due now" and have been for a while - wonder why it seems to keep happening

comrade, remember that this is a free site, kestas will get to it when he gets to it, no sooner and no later. this has happened before. i guess the servers/adjudicators/something just get a little blocked up. too many games maybe? in the long run how can we avoid this problem again? any advice anyone?

if it is too many games that is causing these slowdowns should there be a limit on how many games a person can play at once? don't want to name names but there is a person im playing against who is currently involved in 31 active games, about half of them are under 100 Dps and 10 or so are under 40dps. im sure there are others who play more games than that. Less games means higher Dps on the line and increased quality of play. that 31 games player doesn't reply or chat at all during play. the game lacks something if there is no communication between players and no replies to your inquires (unless is a no press game then thats fine)

31 games sure seems a bit much. I'm in about a 1/2 dozen and I was thinking maybe that was too much. - - - What's really frustrating is that I finally got some time to sit down and play (and virtually everyone in the one game I'm in is logged on at the same time) and the thing is hung up - not even on "due now" - it seems to be hung on place units in that game.

Sorry guys, I updated my gateway machine to FreeBSD 6.3 yesterday evening and that must have affected the running of the gamemaster script.
In the next version the gamemaster script will run without needing any intervention on my part

your logic is completely wrong. the problem of games being stuck in due now phase is not connected in any way to the lack of communication in low point games
sean (3490 D(B))
20 Jan 08 UTC
alamothe, i didnt mean that. i meant that maybe the slowdown was caused by too many games at once (since proved incorrect re kestas post)and maybe we needed a limit on the number of games a person could play. As a side benefit to that maybe the quality of the games would improve. To demonstrate what i meant by this i introduced that unnamed player who plays more than 30 games at once and doesnt chat/reply.

I have been having trouble posting a new topic; it always ends up in the thread on top. So this is a test. If you are reading this inside a thread and not as a separate topic the test failed... lol

Low Stakes Game
I just created a 10D game called "Yankee". I'm still new at this, so I figured I'd make it low stakes.

Supporting a landing convoy?
Can this be done? For instance, I have an army in Belgium and want to support my army landing in Holland after convoying from Yorkshire. But the game doesn't offer a choice 'support to Holland from Yorkshire'.

I have a suspision that these two accounts are the same people. In one of my games, JumpRightIn, I noticed that GaryOaks e-mail was [email protected] I asked him about this he said it was not but then he changed his e-mail to hidden so no one could see it. Any comments?

All orders?
Why doesn't the game show the text for all players orders after a turn is complete. In a typical game of diplomacy you would have access to this sort of information.

I want to know what my opponents are trying to do!

there's a great bug...
the game is :http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=2456

Spring 1911, Diplomacy: Your fleet at Norwegian Sea moving into Barents Sea recieved move support from the fleet at St. Petersburg.

Spring 1911, Diplomacy: Your fleet at Norwegian Sea engaged the fleet at Barents Sea head on; both units were equally matched so there was a stand off.

i'm russia in this game and france should have lost a fleet...he still has it :(

Disrupting Convoys
Last time I checked, you could disrupt a convoy by attacking the fleet that is convoying the army... Is this still true, or has this been fixed?

Why do people always do this?
Whenever I log in to check if any rounds have ended, I always see that the players logged in and decided not to move. It especially pisses me off when they are the last one remaining to go. For example, Gsharp in http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=2739 during the first move of the entire game.

Note to players: Please don't be gay, and just go when you log in...
