Kestas Help. Site is hung at the "Due now" stage.

Currently there are no games with "end of phase:" of 18 thru 24 hours.

Looks like the site stopped advancing out of the "Due now" stage 6 to 7 hours ago.

Possible multi in Come on Down

Once we have modorators I assume there will be a way to report incidences, in which case commenting now would make sense. Until then this is a people's jury and so you must be able to supply the evidence!

Post early and often. Let the gamer beware. We don't have moderators, so we are left to ourselves to defend our gaming world. It's probably close to a witchhunt, but the other option is dedicating a week to a game that never was a game.

i think you should at least have a situation were they have an alliance to the obviously (continuing) detrimental effect of one of the players (leaving SCs open, that kind of thing). just joining the site on the same day and joining a game together, well 9 times out of 10 thats obviously going to be just friends. it is becoming a bit of a witch hunt. i thought maybe we had the balance right before but now with this posting im worried we might be tipping over into a Mc Carthy type red hunt. we arent there yet hopefully. that "debate" in the gary oaks and smelly thread got pretty nasty (and childish). not at all becoming of an officer and a diplomat.

thanks for that input again alamothe;), you would find few detractors for that policy, none maybe. but who are you saying "please" to? thats kind of what we are dealing with here. kestas is a busy man i guess that has better things to do that police our (increasingly?)unruly site. what we are discussing generally in these threads i think is what is metagaming,what makes people do it and how we can make it stop. also what makes people multi account,how to spot it and what we can do about it.

again i would like to advocate a solution whereby people cannot join a game where they are already playing with one of the opponents. it will sacrifice a bit of the number of games you can play but makes all the games have a higher quality.

Just to add, I think this is a really bad point: if you join the site at the same time the odds are your first game will be together, as it will be one of the few games open!

Yes well I thinks it very suspicous that if u spell bazin backwards u get nizab then keep the ab but reverse them and add a ko to the front and lt to the back and u get............kobalt!!!! How do u explain that?????

newbie question: What is the difference between multi-accounting and metagaming?

I think of multi-accounting as one person with more than account as determined by login name.

Metagaming is one person controlling more than one country in the same game. Or is it several countries acting like they are controlled by one person?

metagaming is having real life relationship in game. that means friends helping friends, or family members helping each other.

and to warrenthegreat, that is a definitely fine question. even, just even, positron is the account that bazin or kobalt, assuming the same person, just if again, answering the question will do no harm

Supporting a landing convoy?

Can this be done? For instance, I have an army in Belgium and want to support my army landing in Holland after convoying from Yorkshire. But the game doesn't offer a choice 'support to Holland from Yorkshire'.

Satao, enigmaMV and poweron are friends in real life?
at first poweron backstabbed me, then satao, then enigmaMV in this game

and now what i see? after a lot of suggestion i give to france to let him survive he starts to give to germany SC for nothing back! whitout a reason!
he can take back edinburg but he didn't.
i move back pic so germany can move in....now he moved out from paris so germany can take it...
he don't make a move against germany but he let germany take all his SC!
it's not funny to play in this way!
if france will give to germay al his SC germany will win!
is this fair? this is a game...if people play in this way there is no fun... :(

I have a suspision that these two accounts are the same people. In one of my games, JumpRightIn, I noticed that GaryOaks e-mail was [email protected] I asked him about this he said it was not but then he changed his e-mail to hidden so no one could see it. Any comments?

Real time Dip

anyone interested in playing real time diplomacy this saturday 12/01/2008 at about 20:00 hours GMT. maybe 20 mins per move, we need 6 other guys who are serious then we can talk, once it's whittled down to about 3 or 4 active players they can mutually agree to revert to normal game time or not, what say U, how many points should we bet?

All orders?

Why doesn't the game show the text for all players orders after a turn is complete. In a typical game of diplomacy you would have access to this sort of information.

I want to know what my opponents are trying to do!

Spring 1911, Diplomacy: Your fleet at Norwegian Sea moving into Barents Sea recieved move support from the fleet at St. Petersburg.

Spring 1911, Diplomacy: Your fleet at Norwegian Sea engaged the fleet at Barents Sea head on; both units were equally matched so there was a stand off.

i'm russia in this game and france should have lost a fleet...he still has it :(

Disrupting Convoys

Last time I checked, you could disrupt a convoy by attacking the fleet that is convoying the army... Is this still true, or has this been fixed?

Why do people always do this?

Whenever I log in to check if any rounds have ended, I always see that the players logged in and decided not to move. It especially pisses me off when they are the last one remaining to go. For example, Gsharp in http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=2739 during the first move of the entire game.

Note to players: Please don't be gay, and just go when you log in...
