Yes that will be public, everyone will know whether anakin is currently town-aligned or mafia-aligned, scum will always know the identify of anakin, and anakin will learn his identity if turned obviously.

Not to be picky, but does everyone know the conditions under which Anakin becomes mafia? In other words, before he turns, do we all know what has to happen to turn him? Merely knowing his current status is less informative than knowing what got him there once he's mafia.

Yes, the game/roles introduction will be very clear about what condition leads to Anakin turning to the dark side. It will be very flavorful.

ND: no independents, Jango Fett is dropped. It's for the best probably since I was struggling the most with making his role work well.

i'll be sending out role PMs and starting the game thread tomorrow between 8am and 9am eastern time. i said the game would start at 6pm, but if no one has any objections, i'll just let the game start at 9am and extend the first day by 9 hours so we keep the same phase change time of day as originally prescribed.

wjessop is the only player to explicitly message me and request a coach. Squiggs will be coaching wjessop. If any other players want coaches, Vash and Flum are on deck to help out.

I won't be around during endgame. I think I'll just stay in an unspoiled observer thread and comment on random things there.

I want everyone to know that I will be a little busy tomorrow (and the start of Tuesday) as the game starts. It's not really a problem and I'll be able to check in and everything before going to bed, but I just thought I should mention it beforehand to play it safe. Also June 20th I'm going to be swamped, but I don't expect any of these momentary conflicts to interfere with my ability to play a good mafia game. It just means I won't be able to check in every 5 minutes like normal :).

Coaches have received the role PM for their coachee and will be private messaging each other as needed/desired. The game thread detailing all the rules of Mafia and all the intricacies of the roles in play, including all the particulars about Anakin Skywalker, will be shared when the official Mafia IX game thread is created closer to 6pm eastern time. Take the next few hours to embrace your role and prepare for mental combat.

I asked for a coach, as it was being offered, because it's ny first time playing Mafia here. I did ask for the use of coaches not to be made a big deal of though or create bias; its a shame that's been ignored, it seems slightly unnecessary to have coaches publicly assigned in the list, and it may put people off using it in the future. I did say this to you privately as well, y2k.

i apologize wjessop, that request was completely overlooked by me. i hope and assume no bias would come into play for players having coaches, but it seemed to me that making it public was actually the right thing to do so that coaches are explicitly known and don't inadvertently get placed into the God thread. given this is the first time we're trying out coaches, we'll see how things go, but i do understand why you feel having them be privately assigned might be desirable. after this game hopefully we can more clearly vet how coaches should work in the future, if they go over well.

No worries. I understand that; it's good to try these things out. At least this is the signup thread as opposed to the main game thread. I just wouldn't want people to adjust their game thinking a player with a coach is just essentially being played by the coach.

I think any possible meta game someone could try to play on your coach directly would be even less effective against someone that player is coaching and they wouldn't even go down that route.

To reiterate again for all, the full game thread will be posted at 5pm eastern time, allowing players a full hour to acquaint themselves with all the details of the game, and posting will be allowed an hour after at 6pm.

I don't know y2k, ghug really, really likes to tunnel on me. I would hate for ghug to target wjessop on my behalf.
