RR gated games- minimum requirement or must be greater than?
It says on my profile that my RR is 85%, but I can't seem to join or create games that have an RR requirement of 85%. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Games gated by reliability rating?
Is this something people still want? I haven't noticed many people setting games up with RR requirements - or have I just been looking in the wrong place?

Yeah, it wouldn't really be an "R" R, but it could give incentive to replace.

You can do some very minimal reliability gating on PlayDip, but serious reliability requires using a password and checking someone's stats before admitting them to the game. The person running the game would have the option of letting someone in that didn't strictly meet the requirements. I'd be interested in games that not only had reliability requirements but also communication requirements. That's something that you could only check for quantity, not quality, but still, that's something. Games where people's idea of messaging is a tweet between turns drive me crazy. But none of these need to be options on game creation. They can be handled using passwords and checking potential players stats.

I don't think that takeovers should affect RR except as a byproduct of giving the do-gooder a chance to legitimately finish a game that is already closer to completion and therefore probably requires a smaller time investment.

"Unreliable players shouldn't be able to make games that have a reliability gate for the last 123 days when they CDed 5 games 124 days ago"

I don't mind if an unreliable player did such a thing. "Caveat emptor" to who signs up for such a game. If you don't think 123 days is valid, don't join. If the unreliable person flakes again, then that becomes part of their more recent record.

Just played a live gunboat. I CANNOT manually check RRs. A 17% and 36% RR players resign, one in S01, one later. Perfect example of why it's not useful without a setting.

I agree with Valis; live game ratings should be distinct from all others. Someone has a power cut/PC failure - in 5 minutes you can't fix this and suddenly your RR gets tanked. Misleading.
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
11 May 15 UTC
Is it misleading, though? There's a difference between someone who plays live games on their mobile during a cross country car trip through patchy coverage and someone who is sitting in front of a PC with reliable internet.
Valis2501 (2850 D(G))

Popping in to say I do not advocate for special rules for Live games or a seperate rating. I'm actually against that.

I merely said that Live games in particular need it to be an internal setting and not manually checked by the players themselves.

I think its perfect ATC. Dont let all these wack jobs influence you to make things more complicated than they need to be.
Just need a "look back period" and you are good to go.

This site has discouraged CDs from the very beginning. Just because you didn't think anyone was watching doesn't mean that it was OK to just drop a game because you didn't like it.

ATC, I think if you can implement a way to roll old games off, that's fine. But if you can't, that's fine too. I'd love a way to gate games by RR.

Support cut by attack
I know that if you attack a occupied territory that is trying to give support move or hold then that support is cut. However, when a single attack with no support on the attack happens and the unit giving support has support from another country/unit shouldn't the support still happen. For instance; Smyrna support move to Con - Armenia support hold Smyrna - Syria move to Smyrna no support. Shouldn't the support to Con stand?

Words or uses of words you believe should be eradicated.
I admit it, I hate the misuse of language, or the creation of pseudo-words, especially when a public figure uses it in place of a perfectly functional alternative. I'll start with one that was used recently by a BBC (forsooth!) presenter:

New game idea
I just randomly thought of this: it may just be me being....me but how is this:
Anonymous (otherwise defeats the point) games where each player plays 2 countries. It could work for maps with an even number of countries. I'm not sure how points and such would work though, maybe just add them. It would add a new way to stab someone lol.

Feedback Request on Game
Hi, I was wondering if someone could give me some feedback/advice on the following game please: gameID=160372
I was Austria and in the second half of the game I was really trying to work with Italy to stop Germany winning. But Italy never seemed to get it. Is there something more I could have done in this situation to guarantee a draw?

non-live game advertising
Sparked by a different thread, I'd like to make known my disagreement with having non-live games advertised in a single thread.
I don't have the hard data, but I feel like there are less coordinated games, and those that are have their own thread (see abge or ssorenn's games for example)
