Just bringing up if this is alright from the other thread the discussion about live game reliability ratings.

It seems silly to me to expect everyone to have perfect internet 100% of the time. Things happen even to people in their homes playing games, severe weather, electrical outage, some form of personal emergency, even going farther and saying a disturbance at ones dwelling. All things that can happen with little to no warning to a person and that do happen all the time. It's not fair to expect someone to play live games from a panic room if you're going to start making reliability ratings a lynchpin of game entrance.

Also it seems silly at least from the few games made with this feature, only one or two I believe, for a reliability rating to ever be set to over say 50% or so since only mods have + 75% from what I've seen as their ratings, essentially meaning it'd be faster to just corral people and do invite only.

I don't expect that this feature will prevent people from being able to find games. If that starts happening, then we'll work out a way to adjust it.

To be perfectly honest Holen, this change was made to protect people who take their games seriously from people who CD in over 30% of their games.

maybe put out 'RR ranges' like 0-100, 10-100, 20-100, etc.

but if we look in the 'games' section, will the ones with higher RR requirements still show up but not let us join, or will they just not appear listed?

You'll see them, but you won't be able to join.

With the addition of the spectate feature, we want to make all games visible to all players. Currently, game search won't return games that cost more points than you have- we'll be changing that at some point.

Holen, if your internet connection is reliable only 65% of the time, as seems to be indicated by your profile, you may want to consider changing internet providers.

^...and if you CD 35% of the time because of bad internet connection (which is a pretty predictable reason to CD) other players should have the right and means to exclude you from their games.

It even gives you a friendly note when you try to set up a game with higher RR req. than your own instead of some ERROR 5343245, I love it!

Did Holen say that only mods have 75%+ reliability?

Seriously, any remotely reliable player has 75%. If you are below 90%, I don't want to play with you. Maybe it's not your fault, but I am not running a tribunal for you to determine who is to blame, you or your lack of an ethernet cable.

Thank you ATC et al for the update and thank you to jmo and Oli for their work over the past year or maybe more by now implementing RR on the whole. That's the best thing for this site and now it is fully implemented.

Define bias. What happened over two years ago doesn't say much about my reliability now. Obviously I'd care less if it didn't mess up my rating.

Steephie, I am all for second chances and for a "clean slate" type approach, but we ought to do this on an individual basis in my opinion. If you care enough, contact ATC and I'm sure he can at least engage in some discourse about it if not do something for you. There are some people who are inconsistent (take MM, for example) and go on bad runs followed by good runs, and I would rather those bad runs where they CD and NMR a lot not fly under the radar because of a massive jailbreak.

ATC already agreed it was a good idea. Like I said, I just hoped he'd implement the other idea before this one.
